Hello, I am relatively new to the Audi family. 11 months ago I purchased the above noted car. I just hit about 90,000 a week or two ago. Today, getting on the highway I triggered a CEL. The local AutoZone read it as p0299. I read a few threads and did a google search and saw it could be anything from the Recirculation Valve to wastegate linkage, to new Turbo (YIKES). In my digging I came across TSB 10052519-8307 which seems to address the concern. A couple questions: Is there a time limit/mileage limit on a TSB or should I just go to the a local Audi dealer (Rochester, NY) and have them check it out? My other choice is to go to a local import repair shop (with a good rep) and see what they say. Any feedback you could provide would be appreciated. By the way, I head out Thursday to bring home a ‘15 A3 Prestige for my wife. She like my wagon so much, she wanted a upgrade from her ‘11 Outlander. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2013/SB-10052519-8307.pdf

After more research I ordered the Peirburg diverter. It should be here by the end of the week. We will see from there.

Not the diverter. The new one is in. Threw the code again. It is in the shop now. They pulled the O2 sensor and said it did not have as much oil on it as they had expected to find. Then, the checked the wastegate and it seals just fine.

They were pulling the down tube at last report to get hands on the turbo and check it.

The shop owner said, for his guess, this far in. The turbo is bad :(

Yikes. Bought it just shy of a year ago. I burned though the miles of the 1-year/12,000 mile warranty about 7 months in.

Damn.

The shop owner asked, “Does it sometimes just feel like it falls flat on its face?”

I said yes.

He asked, “more often when cold or warm?”

I answered, warm.

He just shook his head.

Okay...got a call just now. The wastegate is not closing totally. Does anyone know if someone can rebuild the part? They just quoted me $1,700 for a complete -all the gaskets, etc., aftermarket ($1,900 for factory turbo. I am a bit shocked. I was not planning to pay >$2,000 for repairs on a car I paid $15,000 for a year ago.
