View Full Version : TT RS wheel fitment and info

We should have a thread for wheels known to fit and specifications of said wheels.
I'll start with some stock information, since I was unable to find it elsewhere. I pulled the wheel off and weighed it an hour ago or so.
Audi (stock BO) 20x9:
Fits: Yes, no modifications needed
ET: 52
Weight: 50.4lbs with stock PZero 255/30R20, which is specified as 23lbs, so 27.4lbs for the wheel (!!!!!)

Mine weighed more than that so either the wheel or the tire is slightly heavier

27 lbs for the TTRS OEM Forged 20" wheel? That doesn't seem right. The TTS forged 20" wheel is significantly lighter. Even my low pressure cast OEM 19" wheel is a hair lighter than that (although a BBS SX cast 18" wheel is 29 lbs, so one never knows).
Methinks Pirelli may be off on their tire weight spec's!
I don't want to mess up your thread lineage intentions so no response needed and will delete this post in a bit.
.
They maybe forged but they are heavy pigs. I dropped about 6lbs a corner going with my wheel tire combo

What did yours weigh? You had the P Zeros/20" BO? My tires have around 2100 miles on them.

I see the the Tire Rack lists the BBS FI R as a fitment with a 38 offset. I wonder if they have tried them on? Must be the Lamborghini wheel. Cool but $$$$$

If I'm not mistaken, when you get the dynamic package w/ the ceramics you automatically get the 20x9 ET52 wheels.

Which model(s) is(are) a confirmed fit with the TT RS without issue, and with what tire size? Brake clearance has been a real issue with these cars.
Also, price in the states?

The 19x9.5 ET45 pictured below. I actually just got mine and snapped these. Not sure on tire size, but I can check. These list at $5K. The 19x8.5 ET42 would work too, but spacers may be wanted for the correct look. I think I would run 8mm spacers personally.

BBS....
We do have the 20x9 et35 FI-R in stock but I don’t believe the load capacity is sufficient.
The max front axle load or a R8 or Huracan is about 915 kg. The load for the TT-RS is about 1,050 kg. I don’t know if the FI-R was built to a higher capacity since it was only intended for Audi’s mid-engine cars.
I’ve requested info from Germany. We’ll see what comes back.

Not sure, I don’t have a ceramic profile.
Audi’s website does not have any description of the size of the ceramics… The standard rotors are 370mm… Theoretically, assuming a caliper of similar dimensions, the wheel can handle a 390mm rotor…

Nice! What wheel/tire combo/specs? Let's keep the info coming for people looking for wheel options. How's the handling? I'm about to order some 19x9 ET45 wheels that are ~20lbs each, and go with 255/35R19 tires (lots more options and a half inch more sidewall for street). 9.5" with 265 would be appealing but I'd worry about fitment.

Did you have the matte black or the silver wheel powder coated? Also the 275's fit the 9.5 rims almost perfectly, my first requirement is a winter wheel. I'm looking at 255/40/18's DWS Conti's, obviously 9.5 would stretch 255's quite a bit. I'm guessing that 9 inch versions would be about right for my immediate application.

Hate to bug you so much on this but I have one more question. In your build thread you show the clearance roughly equal to a piece of cardboard box. In your opinion, is this enough clearance to handle the type of suspension loads one might see at an autoX?

Ok so I ordered the 18x9.5 et53 TSW Interlagos and some Conti DWS 255/40/18's for the cold weather. I hesitate to say winter since I live in North Alabama. If I like them, I'll probably order another set with summer tires.
Am I correct in understanding that Audi uses an indirect system - in lieu of sensors - to monitor TPMS? I'll post some pics of the set up after the wheels get powder coats, tires get mounted , and the entire deal is installed.

They come with plastic rings, I purchased aluminum and used anti-seize since I track my car. sciblades: you definitely should be using hub centric adapter rings.. You may get it centered without due to the conical lug recesses, but you'll always have it centered properly with the rings. Worth a few bucks.

I track the shit out of my car (10-20 times a year), the plastic rings are just fine. I didn't know you can get aluminum rings, but at least for me, they are unnecessary.

It probably depends on the plastic. I've had bad luck in the past with them cracking/melting to the hub. Never on Neuspeed wheels, though, so theirs may be a non-issue.

I guess so, the plastic is high temp stuff! It looks fine even when the wheels are hot, having swapped from wets to dry wheels at the track the rings still have there normal shape, no melted bits.
Im running 2 piece rotors so maybe that helps but am also running race pads, the aluminum hats have discolored from the temps but the plastic is just fine. Actually pretty amazing if you think about it. Now I am curious, will ping Nuespeed and ask about the rings they use.

Where did you source your hub centric rings? TSW says their center bore is 72mm for this wheel. I can find 72.2mm to 57.1mm rings but not 72mm on the nose.
Yes had them powder coated gloss black to match the black optics

The 19x9.5 ET45 pictured below. I actually just got mine and snapped these. Not sure on tire size, but I can check. These list at $5K. The 19x8.5 ET42 would work too, but spacers may be wanted for the correct look. I think I would run 8mm spacers personally.

Looks like BBS offers a 19x9 et52 in the FS now! Is that the way to go on a TTRS? Or will the spokes not clear the caliper as far as you know? I love that they offer the oem size/offset - so rare.

I'll email BBS now and found out. I'll report back to you by EOD Monday. That is my favorite spec. Completely flat face. These wheels are made for the mk7/8v so I'm thinking you're good with that spec.

Damn! I’m running that on some
FF01s now and it’s too much poke with 9.5 and et45 [emoji24]
I may stick to ET52 and see if 5 or 7mm spacers work to get an effective 47 or 45 offset whilst staying with 9” width.
This likely is due to the spoke contact near the hub of the huge (too big) 8pot caliper

Good plan. Pushing outward is easy.
And yes, that caliper is dated and overly chunky :/
The 9" ET52 is totally flat. Seems like it could work for sure. It would be awesome if we could send you one to test fit.

They do not require spacers. More so than any other, BBS is function over form. That is the reason you must go to at least 10" before you see much concave with BBS.

While I have heard good things about the 4S tires, any aftermarket wheels should have extreme performance tire options like the Advan Neovo 08r or the Poteanza RE-71r. I think a better option is the same wheel as a 19" and a 35 series tire. That gets you better tire options.

This really depends on what you are trying to achieve with a wheel/tire combo. If you are Track focused versus Street driving you’d probably consider different factors. For me this is the best choice.

I'm looking to change the Pzero's on my 2018 TTRS but I'm not really a fan of aftermarket wheels, I like the stock look.
I'm also running APR Stage 1 and the Pzero's are even more garbage than I ever thought they were when it was stock. I can't use full throttle launch control at all on them. I'm looking into swapping them out for Michelin PS4's and although they do size 255/30/20, I was thinking about the 255/35/20 tyres to give me a larger sidewall to help increase LC traction. There isn't a lot of give /crumple in a 30 tyre.
My question is, would increasing the 30 aspect ratio to 35 be okay, I realise the ride height would probably increase?
If not, I may opt for a set of "track" wheels for the dragstrip, I'm guessing dropping down to 19 or even 18 and increasing the sidewall height on PS4's would let me at least use full launch control?

That's the first I have heard of that. I know quite a few folks who are running 255/35/20's and have for some time. I know it makes the speedometer display a little bit off (75mph displayed would be more like 78mph actual) but I have never heard that it would effect the transmission logic.

As long as the front and rears are equal and within 3% of oem diameter, I wasn’t aware of issues aside from the speedo being slightly inaccurate.

has anyone gone to a slightly more narrow wheel from the stock 20x9? I want to go down to 19s and I found a set that I like. However, they are 19x8.5. I don't track my car or anything, so I'm not concerned there.
I am just trying to weigh out any cons there might be and thought this would be a good place for feedback.

Semi on topic.... for those of you running spacers how thick of a spacer can you run with the standard 14x1.5 (27-30mm) lug bolts? Also is there a hardened lug bolt that is preferred? On other platforms I would be replacing the OEM studs with ARP hardware but that does't seem to be a popular choice with Audi owners.
I understand I can get generic lug bolts on ebay, amazon and from some vendors but when possibly running a thicker spacer I'd really like to have top shelf lug bolts. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?
For example ... how do I know THESE (https://www.uspmotorsports.com/Conical-Seat-Wheel-Bolt-Black-14x1.5x-27mm-Length-20-Pack.html) are any good?

Ok fellow TT RS owners, I am getting ready to pull the trigger on track prep parts (wheels, brakes, etc), and was hoping I could get y’all to weigh in on my plans and see if everything will work.
Wheels: neuspeed rse102’s 20x9 40mm offset, reuse oem tires (255/30/20) and then move to ps4s in stock size. Later, pick up same wheel but in 19x9 40mm offset and run sport cup2s in 255/35/19 as dedicated track set up and run the 20’s as street wheels.
Brakes: am ordering Essex/ap racing bbk at the same time as the 20” neeuspeeds above (ie now). Leaning towards the 9660 set up since it’s for hpde and the 9668 seems like overkill. This brake setup will open up more fittment options and I also want to preserve the oe wheels and brakes instead of trashing them.
Goal is no spacers needed with the above (pls weigh in if I’m wrong on that) at stock height with 034 front camber plates installed (-2.4 deg) and oe rear suspension. Also, will I still be good when I lower the car on 034 springs (0.8” drop front/0.6” drop rear) and include adjustable rear toe links and upper control arms setting to around -1.3 to -1.5 deg camber out back.
Will above suspension setup work with both wheel option I mentioned with no spacers and no rubbing?

Why are you doing the rse102s in 20"? I get that you get to burn through your oem tires and then have 20" PS4s for daily, but I tripped over that logic personally. None of the oem tires are anything I'd want to deal with on track, and I'm not sure I'd want to daily 20" w/ stock suspension... but once you get into lowering it and dialing up suspension performance, it sounds like bad ride times and rub city.
It seems simpler to me to go straight for your 19" (or 18" if you know the Neuspeeds clear... I think the 102s do, most likely the 10s do, and there are TSW Interlagos as another stock clearing option in 18 to check out) setup with the track tires you want (check out RE71Rs as an SC2 option, Hankook RS-4s as a lesser but cheaper option too). Take your 20" stock wheels and tires off and put them in a box for when you sell. I'm biased bc that's what I did, but it just strikes me as less complicated and you don't waste any track days dealing with dodgy tires. :)
BBK. Doing a BBK in parallel with new wheels could lead to clearance problems, or at least low odds you won't be running spacers of some kind (which are not the end of the world if they're < 5mm). If you can get the template for the APs on your car and test fit barrel and spokes, you can avoid some problems. I like the AP kit Essex sells, but I ended up doing a Girodisc swap when I first got the car (rotors and pads, into the box for later). I recently put on Brembo's GT-S M6 calipers which are a bolt-on replacement for the stock calipers (and... into the box for the next owner). I think you can do front Girodiscs + M6s + SS lines for about $800-1000 less than the Essex kit. We won't count the $550 you should spend getting Pagid RS29s for pads in any scenario. I preferred the Brembo because it was monobloc and I already had rotors I like, but I don't think you can go wrong with either option. Ultimately, I think the stock calipers with swapped pads and rotors (front and rear) is good enough for most HPDE work, but the calipers are going to discolor if you care about that. Point being: I think you need to swap pads and rotors before getting serious on track, but you can do calipers later.
As far as your suspension options, I think you might have problems lowering with 20s. If you do the fixed camber plates, that may reduce fender-side rub risks, not sure about strut side. On mine w/ ET52 18" wheels (Forgestar CF-5) I cleared stock calipers and suspension, but strut clearance was tight. No rub. On 19" ET45 (HRE FF15), I cleared, but rub on full compression in the rear. On the suspension front, I did 6 days on stock suspension, no changes. Not bad. Soft, lack of camber up front killed some RE71Rs, but it wasn't a big issue. I've put coilovers on since then, but one thing I learned from my R and RS3, after doing lowering springs from VWR and MSS... you might as well just do coilovers. I get it, cancelers yikes, my beloved comfortable dynamic suspension... frankly, a good set of coilovers will handle bumps stiffly but comfortably, and once you start throwing on lowering springs and plates, you're might be making it worse than good coilovers. Yes, you have a switch at the end that makes your dampers softer or harder... but the rest of the geometry is a departure. If you are serious enough about being on track to need/want a BBK, you probably want to take off your magnets (and... put them in the box for the future owner of your car to enjoy!).
This is just my 2 cents... I have all sorts of scenario plans to fast forward to the end state all over my hard drive, but ultimately area by area seems to yield a higher hit rate than doing too many things en masse. No judgments at all, just my takes.

Thoughts on a 18x9.5 et30 in the rear...doable? Will it poke? Can some camber solve for it? I'm going to see if I can do some digging in the regular TT/TTS forum for some answers, because I wouldn't want to stretch if i can avoid it. I like my traction/handling. That's assuming the bodies are identical between these cars, which I believe they are.
I'm looking at a special set of wheels, and that spec above has the character I want for the rear of the car. I plan on running the same model wheel with a different spec (18x9.5 et45) in the front, which I know will be fine, but it doesn't have the face concavity that et30 one i mentioned earlier does. That's why i want it on the rear to add a dynamic look.

Doing an offset stagger seems like a high complexity price to pay for getting just the right wheel style you want. You won't be able to rotate front to rear, which is a big loss if you run directional tires. I get it, you want some dish in your life... but having negligible dish up front and some out back is a bit odd looking when I've researched it.
My take: it will poke by 15-20mm no matter what you do with camber, which isn't egregious but you'll notice. W/ 18s if you're not lowered you'll also have decent wheel gap. You'll be out just over 28mm from stock 20x9s, so the question is how much camber are you going to add and by what means. It looks like each degree of camber buys you about 7 mm offset on 18s. On stock, large gains would be 0.5-0.7 degrees of neg camber, which gets you about 5mm of tuck at the top. I think you still clear the strut inside, as you've moved out by 15mm with the wheel changes, so should be good. So you'd need a lot more camber to not be looking at 15-20mm of poke.
Me, I'd rock, the ET45s and never look back. Then again, I run ET45 19x9.5 (w/ no dish at all HRE FF15s) and it's fine, but it's just enough poke to catch my eye.

I have a shop with a mount/balance station, so the rotating part, although tedious, is most definitely doable.
That being said, you're probably right on the offset being a bit much. My winters are 18x8 et31 and they seem pretty flush, at least in front. These 19x9.5 at et30 would put them 20mm further out than even those.
I just needed a sanity check. I don't think the difference in face design will be something I'll wish for once the wheels are actually on the car. Cheers

I went with BC Forged and a non rotatable setup to get more concavity on the rear wheels. It may end up biting me, in respect to tire wear, but I wanted the aesthetic based on pictures that Paul Gi sent me.
I'm doing 19x9.5 et45 up front and 19x9.5 et42 in the rear with PS4S in 265/35/19, will lower with KW HAS springs and putting on a neuspeed rear sway and end links. It may see a track day or two, but mostly roads.

Thanks for the input. Came to some similar conclusions today as well. Went 19” wheels after speaking to neuspeed and they said it’d fit the ap bbk. Went with ap just bc of personal experience with the j hook rotors but like you said, no wrong answer there. I’ll probably end up with coil overs but I love my mag ride so for now I’m sticking with it.
Edit: wheels are rse102’s 19x9 +45mm offset. AP bbk 9660 clears stock wheels so should be okay according to both neuspeed and Essex. (Was burning up the phone lines today). I’ll post an update on here once everything is mounted up and confirm fitment.

Just what I needed, some wheel porn [:D]
I'm thinking to go Neuspeed RSE102, been temped to go bronze to go with Panther Black. But I'm not keen on the matte. I don't think I can do wheels that aren't gloss finish, so Hyper Black it is...
I'm thinking 19" ET40, right now on stock 19s they sit too far inboard. I've got a set of 255/35 PS4S to go on, sitting about 5mm above min height on MSS Track pack, stock camber. Slightly temped to go ET45 with 8mm spacers for a bit more flush look, but don't want rubbing.
Anyone see issues with that?
I'm in the UK but looking to pick these up from my bro's place (West Coast) in May so need a supplier who can do be a good price ;)

Update: got the Essex parts/AP 9660 bbk installed last week, obviously it clears the stock 20’s np. We test fit the neuspeed wheels as well and it easily clears them with even more room to spare; rse102’s 19x9 +45mm offset.

TTS, but same concern. These are 20x9ET35 HRE FF01’s paired with 265/30/20 P4S‘s. I’m lowered on MSS Kit streets. The rear rubbed until I removed the wheel well staples. The front is slightly more aggressive and isn’t ideal for track use. I’d be afraid to blow out the front fenders. If I went back down to stock 255’s, the sidewall is a little thin for hard driving. I think if you plan to do any track time, a 19” setup is more useable.

For track wheels they’re great. They do have small enough clearance to the caliper that rocks get stuck and scratch the barrel of the wheel. Sounds terrible and will go through the paint (my front wheels have a ring of silver where the rest of the barrel is black). Neuspeeds have a little more clearance it seems.

Looks great Ben! 9 +40 is a good off the shelf spec for the 8S. For custom sets ups I’ve done, the front sits pretty much the same and i go
3-5mm lower in the rear. I think a 3mm more would be perfect and you’d be clear to lower it with no issues.

Based on the above info I’d say no. Very few manufacturers have 18” that clear barrel and spoke for The TTRS. The other issue is the 7.5” width. That is probably more of problem because I haven’t seen any in that size work; in 18x7.5 or 19x7.5. You’d need to test fit to be sure but it doesn’t look probable.

To clear the brakes bolt on in 10 you’d need probably 19x10 +44 front and 19x10 +50 rear and to add some negative camber front and rear to avoid rub.
19x9.5 is a little easier to work with and can yield a nice fit with good concavity at stock camber. Shoot me an email if you’d like to discuss 👍

Foremost, thanks Paul and Kim!
Neuspeed RSe11R 18x9 ET45 with 265/35R18 Yokohama A052
As an aside, I temporarily put my RSe10 18x8.5/8 ET45 stagger set from my RS 3 on the TT RS. On those, I could have the stick on wheel weights (avg thickness) at the very outside lip (raised area) and there were a few mm to the caliper on both the RS 3 and the TT RS. With the RSe11R, the weights very lightly interfere so it seems the barrel is a bit different.

If anyone with DIRECT TPMS needs a set of sensors for extra wheels, I have a set here:
https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/860987-Genuine-Audi-TPMS-sensors-for-cars-with-dynamic-TPMS
This option is offered in Audi Sport models. If you don't have an MMI display with tire temp and pressure, you don't need these.
Thanks!

Mine arrived and I did a test fit without tires. I currently have negative 2.5 front and 2.25 rear which is making the strut clearance tight. The fronts clear the caliper by just over a hair however the barrel tapers wider away from the wheel face so I ordered some 5mm spacers to set the caliper a little further inside and also get just a little more clearance from the strut. I'm mounting 275 Hoosiers and I still have plenty of fender clearance even with the lowered ride height.
Point of clarification: The clearance challenge is with the barrel not the spokes

Correct on the tires and the suspension is stock magride. I’ll be getting the MSS lowering kit at some point and may throw the 5mm spacers I have in the back. Oh for sure. The iPhone pics are good for what the camera is, but it’s no comparison to a DSLR with a prime lens. It’s nearly impossible to keep the noise out of iPhone pics with the editing.
Fixed the pics. 2 of them were the wrong edits.

Anyone running a staggered setup? I've always been against this because it's all look and not go. Found a wheel I like offered as staggered. 8.5 front and 10" rear. I'm guessing that since the tire patch is the same, the effects for street use would be minimal? Anyone with experience with this? And these wheels? I would want the center spokes to be blue and the lip to be gloss black.

I know 265/40-18 is a go on 18x9 +45.
Should be ok too on 18x9.5 +45 just pay attention to the front if very low and/or with a wide running tire.
I’d do 275/35-18 on 9.5 +45 tho. Would handle better imo.

From the lack of response I'm guessing no one is running a 265 tire on a 20x9 wheel on a lowered car.

265/30-20 on the Oem 20x9 +52 is doable lowered. I wouldn’t go wider than 265 on 9” though

I'm running a 275/30 on the oem 9" wheel just fine, but I am not lowered. Upon inspection I don't see there being any issues if I decided to lower the car. 9" is the minimum recommended (by Michelin) for a 275 width.

Thx, will see what the tire shop respond.
Car wont see much track use but better to have that little extra side wall of the 265 vs 255.

I really like the HRE FF01 19x9.5 et45. Equipped w/265/35/19, will there be any fitment issues? I'm on MSS springs but eventually plan to go KW. Not slammed by any means. Been difficult to find answers on this elsewhere. Most people seem to be running 255's, but they look a little weak on a 9.5" wheel.

19x9.5 +45 with 265/35-19 square is solid lowered an inch. But I’ve done more 9.5 +45 front with 9.5 +42 rear with 265/35 for customers as it flushes out the rear better. This is that on KW HAS:

You won’t have any figment issues at all. I run the same specs and haven’t rubbed once. There’s also definitely room to lower my car without introducing any rubbing.

We’re gonna be wheel twins. I just ordered a set of HCA162 for my RS3. Same finishes except hidden hardware. So bad ass.
