My son has an 02 A6 2.7T that the thermostat housing cracked. To fix this I went ahead and changed the thermostat, replaced the water pump, timing belt, serpentine belt and all the pulleys and tensioner that are part of that. My son "helped" by putting parts back on while I was working. After getting it all back together and starting the car it sounded as if there was a problem with the accessory belt. As it turned out my son put the idler pulley for the timing belt on backwards causing the timing belt to start to walk off the front of the pulleys and sprockets. While taking it back apart to find the problem I noticed the passenger side cam had jumped time. Once back together I rotated the engine by hand to make sure everything was aligned properly. The engine rotates almost a quarter turn of the cam and stops. Is this a bent or broken valve?
