cripes...long day.night. morning....carnage pics included

Started at 2:30pm on thursday, finished with a bang at 5am today
In all, i remade my exhaust so it wasnt hanging so low, I cut off the t25 flange welded on a t3 flange, added an extra runner to the manifold for the external wg, built a dumptube and downpipe, bolted everything down, blew motor.


It was extremly fast before it blew, almost scary fast, I couldnt watch the boost gauge but I have it running off the 10psi wg spring so I'm assuming thats what boost it was at although it felt much mch faster foir that 3/4 of a gear

So anyone wanna buy my wheels? they are the only set in an audi bolt pattern anywhere.

Also anyone know a cheap motor fs?

yea i didnt have it tuned at all, i figured at 10psi I'd be safe on hte gt28rs programming/fueling...aparently i was wrong

also did u have only one line going to the wastegate as pictured bc if not u know there r supposed to be 2. just wonderin. also how much would u charge to make another manifold? maybe u could get some money that way u know

I really dont wanna make another manifold, that was the biggest pita ever. it would take alot of cash to make another, and you would still need a downpipe

I know where a totaled Jetta is that has a 1.8T engine in it with about 10k miles on it. I don't know if it will work in a quattro car, but it may. I can call the guy and get a price if you want me to.

how much for the wheels. =). just wondering. And you can get a short block for i think 1700 from the dealer. 2700 for long block i beleive. All junk yards are rip offs for this motor. I was in your boat a few months back and this motor is so hard to find for a good deal unless its from a fellow member.

the only hose thats supposed to be hooked up is the bottom hose if youre running a mbc...the wastegate is hooked up correct

i started to port the cylinder head and was planning on keeping it..ill shoot you an IM on aim when i get home and we can talk more...i also have an aeg crank to go w/ that 1.8t block if you wanted to make a stroker out of it [;)]

that is incorrect..if the wastegate is hooked up via a mbc or just the wastegate spring there are only supposed to the 1, bottom, hose hooked up

some ebc's require the use of the top hose port...read the instruction manual every now and then for stuff..it helps out sometimes

Barry: If you could look that up I;d appreciate it! It doesnt hafta be aeb, I got standalone any 1.8t motor will work, although obvious the aeb is prefered

lol, i have a build shortblock. too bad it's already paid for. Lemme know if you need rods. Found Scat's which are about 1/2 of pauters if you're not going to top 450bhp

So you hooked up an MBC and expected the WG spring to regulate boost?

yep the mbc was all the way open, air was passing through basically as though the mbc wasnt even there

Damn tom, i guess the beast is down for awhile. I think you'll really regret it if you sell those wheels though. But good luck getting it all done. Better be done before the snow hits so you can get out an get some more good footage

lemme know what you can get em for. couldn't tell from the pic but if you threw a rod the head should be fine. really no reason a functioning valvetrain would be damaged by a failed bottom end short of a piston losing a pin and hitting the valves.
