View Full Version : Weird Question: How do you stop Navigation?

I drive a 2015 S4 and I use my MMI Navigation somewhat-often. It works well enough, but the convenience is huge. My question is: How do you stop navigating when you arrive somewhere? The only way I've found to just say "I'm done" is to go into the Route menu (top-left soft key), scroll up to the destination, then 'Delete'. It never automatically ends navigation when I arrive, and the only way I've found to actually stop and clear the route is to do the above. Just selecting 'Stop Route Guidance' only stops navigation, it doesn't actually clear the route.
Anyone else run into this, or have another way of doing it?

Push the Nav button when there is a route active. The first icon that's selected when the Nav menu opens should say 'Cancel'. Just select that and it will clear your destination as well as stop navigation.

I usually just hit the return or back button and hit stop route guidance, seems to work for me. Not sure if I am understanding your question correctly though.

I just hit the voice control button and say "cancel route guidance."

But if you cancel does it actually remove the route, or just turn off navigation? Usually when I hit Stop it makes it seem like it ends, but the flag stays on the map and the address stays in the memory as the destination.
if it's as simple as hitting Nav and then Cancel, I'll pull out the remainder of my hair.

Pushing cancel will clear your destination as well.

So tried this out yesterday, and it doesn't do what I'm asking. Both the 'Cancel' button and the 'Cancel Route Guidance' voice command turn off navigation, but don't remove the Route from memory. If you look at the map, the destination flag is still there, and the Route list will still show the entire route you had programmed.
What I'm looking for is an easy way to get rid of all of that. I don't want it listed in the history, I don't want it showing up in the list, and I don't want the flag showing on the map. Before you jump to "where are you going that you don't want people to know?", that's not the case. This isn't about where I'm going at all...I'm just a bit anal about this kind of thing.

should be able to clear history in either settings or the history tab in nav. I can't recall offhand but did it to clear the previous owners locations. check the manual, but i know you can clear it in one of those.

That's odd, when I hit cancel on mine, the destination flag is removed from the map and the navigation is turned off. Hitting cancel won't remove it from the history though, you'll probably need to enter your past destinations and delete it manually there.

An easy way to tell is if I go into the Route screen, the address I was navigating to is still there. It probably shouldn't bother me, but it does. The only way I've found to clear it is to go into Route, select that address, then Delete. That shuts it all down.

Let's call a spade a spade. The real subject should be "HELP!! need to delete the strip club out of my NAV history?"
