Not for American markets... We definitely won't get that many options.... Or the twin clutch

I do believe the DSG is the only transmission coming stateside

Not to mention the 2016 B8.5 has already been on sale here in the US for months now.

From what I have been reading, we won't be getting the DSG (similar to what hyperunion said). IIRC, we are getting the 8-speed like the B8.5s have.

From what I've read:

Expected arrival at US dealers is March 2016.

Initial Launch with 2.0 TFSI 252hp/273tq, 7-speed dual-clutch S Tronic transmission, and Quattro AWD. Other drivetrains (FWD, Manual, Diesel to potentially follow).

None of Audis specs mention the ZF8 tiptronic on any model other than the Euro 3.0TDI model. However it would not surprise me if Audi somehow elected to use the ZF8 for the US.

It would make little sense to me that they drop the 7-speed DSG from the S4 (to go to the ZF), only to swap the DSG into the A4.

Edit: I plan on going S4 when the B9's come out anyway, so this means little to me.

Every 2016 Audi A4 employs a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) are standard, while all-wheel drive is available with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. Audi estimates that the A4 will accelerate to 60 mph 6.6 seconds with the CVT, improving to 6.4 seconds with the manual transmission and 6.2 seconds with the eight-speed automatic.

EPA-estimated fuel economy is 27 mpg combined (24 city/32 highway) with the CVT. The manual transmission drops slightly to 26 mpg combined (22 city/32 highway), with the automatic checking in at 25 mpg combined (22 city/31 highway).

There's a new version of the S tronic in the B9, so no 501 in B9's. The new one is downgraded to some 440-450Nm or around there. Had something to do with oil channels inside the shafts of the gearbox making them somewhat weaker according to one of Audi Germany's techs. That's why the S4 and 3.0TDI 272 gets ZF instead of S tronic. The rest comes with S tronic, manual only on 190hp or less with FWD.

But as mentioned before, not impossible you get ZF on every B9 in US.

In that case the zfhp8 will be the better transmission for the car....

Probably, especially since the 252 TFSI is rated at 370Nm. That doesn't leave much room for tuning them.

CNET reports 7-spd DSG is the launch transmission. (US cars)

Car and Driver reports the same as CNET

Edmunds report the same as CNET, but for fwd and Quattro equipped cars.

The Audi news release says the same thing the Edmunds reported --- so what with all the speculation?

According to Audi now in its fifth generation, the A4 Concepts arrives in a compact premium segment that already looks fit to burst, with BMW, Mercedes and Jaguar all fighting for the same customers. Audi is aware of this, and to ensure it remains top dog at the premium end of the market – in spite of what may look like a car not too dissimilar from the one it replaces – has radically overhauled the A4.

This configuration is for the B8.5 -- not the B9
