yes supposedly the S60r out handles the M3,which out handles the S4....so i hear......speed wise they ok, not great but ok S4 is better, driving pleasuer is probly about the same, but safety gotta go with Volvo

Yes it can. Volvos can be made real fast and they handle great. Check out some evolve cars.

Also with software and exhaust i believe the s60R is faster then a stock b6 s4.

Not to mention interior. I am having somewhat of a hard time buying that a car that is like what, $10k cheaper?, is supposedly able to outclass an M3 and S4 in handling, etc. That just doesn't add up.

Ok, stock vs stock, The s4 is much better then an s60R. I was going to buy one before my 05 ultrasport and when i test drove it i hated the interior. It felt crappy but they have nice dials and a good body kit from volvo. Now if you are going to mod it, Software,exhaust intake etc.. in an s60R will perform better then a b6s4.
Stock=b6 s4
Modded=S60R(performace wise)

I don't like the lines of the S60R. Some angles look weird.

I have a friend who has one and we were even from a roll of 40-80. I'll save my ricer excuses on why I think I could've won.

For the money I think its a good car. As for the M3 the Volvo will "fatigue" earlier on the track, especially its brakes.

My brother in law owns one, my mom and sister have the volvo suvs, they are all whack. Not a fan of the volvo's except on safety. His car doesn't beat or out handle the S4 on any level or the M3. Mine is not stock but the S4 in my opinion (biased) is much nicer all the way around..

Where did you get this info? I would like to read it if you can provide a link. I have ridden in my friends Volvo and I am not convinced.

I didn't even read much of the comments above. I drove a S60R before I bought my Audi and I drove it 3 blocks, turned around and told the salesmand I didn't need to waste his time or mine. The only time you get any power out of that car is full throttle. Without the turbo i can run faster. The quality of the car feels cheap to me. I noticed the lack of quality as soon as I sat in the drivers seat and fastened the seatbelt. The steering feedback was terrible.

Bottomline, the car is $10k less and feels $15k to $20k cheaper. Go drive one and you won't ever ask that question again.

Volvo's are nice cars. But they are no Audi.

I dunno, if you have to heavily modify a stock Volvo to meet a non modified stock Audi, then you kind of lost right out of the gate, right?

I'm not saying it can't become a great car, but it sounds like an S4 != S60R without some heavy modifications.

S60R can be made pretty fast since it is Turbocharged. My friend has a Stage 3 B5 S4 avant, his brother has a Stage 2+ Sedan, and his other brother has an S60R...modded pretty good. ECU software...Downpipes, exhaust, intake, etc. He's pushing about 360 HP in his setup. We have did a few highway runs alltogether, and his car keeps up pretty good with Stage 2/2+ B5 S4's, which are faster than a stock B6/B7 S4. So speedwise...in a straightline, they can be very quick. Handlingwise...a B6/B7 S4 will definitely handle better. And the interior on the Audis is nicer. Not to say that the Volvo isn't...because it has a pretty clean interior. But the Audi interiors are the benchmark in the industry. My .02 cents [;)] [:)]

um...no, an S60R doesn not outhandle an M3 and speedwise, it is more than ok, and can be fast

I drove a chipped s60r and it was badass. Steering was sloppy, but that was my only complaint

BMW states 4.8. . . and that's probably with the SMG

actual road tests from top gear, fifth gear, etc say 5.1. . . and that's with a proper transmission.

thus, I stand by my 5.1 second statement.

evolve makes the nicest stuff but too bad it is like impossible to get. I would take an S4 over an s60r anytime, the interior kills it as well as evetyhing else. Luckily, I have an S4....
