Abs/brake pad wear sensor

Just wondering if a fault in the brake pad sensor could cause the abs warning light? My assumption is no, but I was wondering if anyone can verify that. looking to purchase an aftermarket abs sensor from ECS but I want to get more information first, thanks to anyone who chimes in!

Yes, and actually that is one of the common issues, or with the plug. If you have VCDS, you should be able to decipher your problem further.

I have had it read twice at a couple brake shops but can't clear the code, the code is an open circuit on the passenger side abs sensor. I changed a cv boot on the passenger side and I'm pretty sure the brake line got wet and dirty in the processes also I could've damaged the sensor during install because I forgot to remove it, I've got a new abs line coming in today, would swapping that out clear the code, or would I still need to clear it via vagcom?
