I was actually lucky, cause this dealer was actually getting it in. Just had to wait a few weeks for it to be delivered.

Nice ride. Colour scheme looks fantastic.
Looks like for the US market, the headlights has the orange colour left right indicator bulb is situated on the outer most sides of the lamp whilst here in south east Asia, they are situated closer inside where the frowning day time running lights (DRL) are pointed.
I wonder how many types of headlights for this A3 (8V) does Audi produce. I've seen a video where the frowning eyelids turn orange and double up as indicator lights on YouTube

I have the same monsoon gray prestige. I have added ceramic window tint and different 18" wheels. I also have gotten the smoke amber lens covers from stickerbomb.com I was going to put in a pic but I guess I don't know how to do that yet.
Anyway, I like your taste in Gray.

5% off, 1.64% from my local CU. This is my first Audi, coming from a VW Jetta so no loyalty discount for me.

Thanks, the color is freakin sweet. Especially when you have the right ambient light from the sunset wooooo hahaha. I am currently looking into doing tints (probably 35% all around) and the protective film on the front/rear bumpers but I am considering the entire car lol. I may do springs later and drop is about an inch

Exactly. I never understood why folks would want to ask how much your payments are? It's none of their freaking business. I would feel uncomfortable even asking someone that question. Which is why I've never asked anyone that question in my 48 years of existence. Its just a bit personal. When I brought my Audi A4 16 years ago, I went to Washington Heights to visit a friend. Everyone was asking me "How much do you pay a month?" It was freaking annoying. I didn't answer the question because I'm sure they didn't even know why they were really asking that question. None of them was in the market for a car. Its just a standard question that some people ask and its annoying as hell.

My take is that they want to know if you got a fair deal. But I'd guess simply saying "I got a fair deal" than having to reveal the actual numbers would suffice. Unless the person asking has also financed an A4 and wanted to compare his deal to yours. Questions seem valid to me, as a lot of people just want to know how much a car is going for before they go into their dealer and try to haggle.

I think it's more of a millennial thing. They deserve to know how much everyone makes, how much everything costs and a promotion every year with really fancy titles just like the guy who has been doing it for 20 years-- because, well, they deserve it.

That's cool how you bolded just enough of my statement to remove the entire context of the point I was making. If you aren't aware of the reputation the millennials have for making demands then you aren't paying attention. Therefore, your characterization of my statement isn't justifiable.

Not knowing what things costs and what people made sure worked out well for us eh? Inequality and recession. Awesome.

God forbid we want to know how much something costs instead of handing someone a blank check. Wanting to know what people paid for a good that fluctuates wildly in price is a perfectly reasonable request.

No it isn't. Besides it not being any of your business. There are plenty of variables that weigh into the monthly payment. Rate, Term, Down payment, Taxes, etc... Without knowing what I just mentioned, the monthly payment amount is useless. I really only see young people asking that question because they seem to be unaware of the other cost variables, other than the price of the car. What good is knowing the monthly payment going to do for you? You don't know the term, rate or taxes. I think its just people being freaking nosey.

Why are we making this seem like such a complicated question? [:|]
Because the answer does nothing without knowing the other variables. Use this example; 2 folks purchased an S3 and they are both paying $600 a month for on a finance. One guy has very good credit and put zero down, while the other guy had crappy credit, put $5k down, and has a much higher loan interest rate. Can you tell me how knowing what someone pays each month can actually apply to anything without knowing the other variables? Asking what someone pays every month is a stupid question, and shows the mindset of the person asking.

I generally assume most have good credit unless stated. It doesn't matter anyway knowing what credit another person has or how much down payment he/she put down since both components coupled with the term year are used in calculating your monthly payment. Which you can easily do on any bank or credit union website site that provides a car loan calculator and it's going rate.

Then why the need to ask someone what they are paying a month? I can understand asking what was the negotiated price. But asking what someone paid a month without factoring in the other variables, is a senseless question imo.

I don't compete with folks about how much my monthly car payment is. That isn't anything that I would care to be a part of. Sounds a bit childish if you ask me. I think its more like "This is what I paid, I need to ask you how much you paid, so I'll know if I got ripped off or not". And you would still need to know the other variables or the comparison is useless.

I see this as an okay question to ask.
Typically the best answer to give them is a % number off manufacture retail price.

1.) Inequality and recession wasn't caused because people didn't know "how much things cost". Not even close. For starters, sub-prime lending was one of many causes.
2.) Nobody ever asked for you to hand anyone a blank check. That would be silly.
3.) Prices for this vehicle are not "wildly fluctuating". That's a bit of an overstatement. The fluctuation is typically between the invoice and MSRP. That's not a large percentage of the total cost to the consumer.
Lastly, there's a big difference between expecting or demanding someone to tell you what their payment is and politely asking "would you mind if I asked what you paid?".

I'm also going to wait a little before doing my spring install. I called H&R and they mentioned they had no plans for the A3 Quattro OE springs BUT I did talk with VWR and they seem convinced that the VWR springs for the MK7 Golf R could be a good match. I just need to determine the front and rear axle weight of the A3 Quattro. The VWR springs are linear and would be an awesome match for the stock shocks if they will work!

From a thread on golfmk7.com (http://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4832)
VWR Sport Springs are specifically engineered to replace your factory springs with slightly shorter and stiffer springs. They are designed to lower your vehicle's center of gravity and reduce body roll for better handling all while maintaining the ride quality and comfort as if intended by the OEM. VWR found the current VAG OEM dampers are a much more sophisticated design than previous generations resulting in a worthwhile improvement in handling with little change. VWR painstakingly developed these springs to work perfectly with your OEM dampers and require no other changes to your suspension to take advantage of their benefits.
The VWR Sport Springs were developed for several VAG platforms all matching correctly to their respective OEM dampers, making this a very cost-effective modification. With different engines and vehicle weights, VWR has developed a range of springs specific to your vehicle and powertrain. These springs are fully compatible with Volkswagen's Switchable ACC (Adjustable Chassis Control) dampers.
A typical VWR Sport Spring customer is one who demands performance over stock without breaking the bank. These springs are not intended for customers looking to dramatically lower or track their vehicle. For those customers, VWR's full line of coilovers are available to suit your individual needs.
Reducing Ride Height and Increasing Spring Rate
Each vehicle will be lowered differently, depending on platform. Most vehicles see a 20-25mm reduction in front and rear ride height. These heights were chosen in order to preserve the wheel travel needed to keep the usability of the standard car, with an increase in spring rate of around 10-15% depending on the type of car. Lowering or stiffening further, as some springs do, in VWR's experience will cause the vehicle to bounce and lose damper control as the dampers are mismatched to the spring-rate and will also cause the springs to run out of wheel travel. You also risk reducing the life of your dampers significantly by choosing the wrong springs, which the VWR Sport Springs are guaranteed not to do.
Found a similar setup over on ECS Tuning for our cars:

Sorry to high-jack the thread- The link in the above post is for the H&R setup which consist of progressive springs with a more aggressive drop.
The VWR springs for the MK7 R aren't verified fitment until we figure out the front and rear axle weight of the Quattro. But both share the same Quattro MQB platform so it should be a close to perfect fitment. The VWR springs have a more realistic drop of 3/4"-1" while maintaining a better ride due to the liner spring rate. Send VWR an email and keep the heat on them to release a product for us!

You could say that again. I've been trying to hold off too but its spring time and this is the time to get things done! I was thinking about a coilover setup too but, the more and more I think about it. I'm not sure. I feel like I'm ok with the stock ride height and maybe ill just replaced the stock shocks and struts and keep the stock springs and spend the extra money on front and rear sway bars.
I do feel a difference but its minimal which is expected. Its also not extremely loud which is what I preferred as well.

No I didn't weight it but just looking at the construction it is definitely lighter then the stock. The TBE comes with a downpipe w/cat. Overall so far I am very happy with it.

Car definitely feels like it pulls in more air and breaths better from oem.
My P3 reading have been around the same as stock at the moment but I only ran it lastnight and it was in the 30's. I was averaging about +10-20 degrees from outside air temp

How is the ride quality with the springs?
It's definitely firmer then stock but overall very good. But I'm probably changing to coils in the spring.
On another note I upgraded the brakes the other day. With the s3 calipers, 340mm slotted Ecs rotors and ebc red stuff brake pads.

Installed the BFI engine and transmission mounts on Saturday as well as the H&R front swaybar. I wanted to feel the vibration difference before and after the unibrace is installed. So far I definitely do notice more vibrations in the cabin. Also note I held off doing an alignment till I put in my coilovers which should be this coming Saturday.

I wanted to get some miles on before I wrote any sort of review on the last few mods installed (BFI Engine and Transmission Mount, H&R Front Swaybar, Unibrace UQB and, Bilstein B14 Coilovers)
I first installed the BFI Engine and Transmission mounts and H&R Front sway bar. In hind sight I probably should have just installed the mounts and left the swaybar till the coils went in since an alignment would be required because, the sub-frame has to be lowered to install the swaybar. The reason I wanted to have the mounts on first were to see the difference in the amount of vibrations I would be getting prior to having the Unibrace installed. I just say this. Holy vibrations. There was a very noticeable amount of vibrations in the cabin after the mounts were install. More so when idle at a red light in D or S mode. If I threw the car into neutral you would not feel it as much. One other thing that I did notice is when initially pressing the gas on the car the in reverse or in D/S the initial load of the car would make it vibrate a lot. Overall the mounts do what they are intended to do, prevent excessive engine and transmission movement. and I am happy with them.
The follow week after driving about 400 miles, I installed the remaining mods (Bilstein B14 Coilovers, H&R Front Swaybar and, Unibrace UBQ)
Overall I have noticed my chassis is a lot stiffer and cornering ability has improved. With the Unibrace installed have noticed a signification drop or any drop what so ever in vibrations in the car? Yes, I have it is definitely a world of difference with and without it. It does not 100% eliminate vibrations I get in the cabin but it has significantly dropped it. Cornering and handling performance has gone up. I feel more planted and agile. There has been less rolling on sharper turns. Im not saying day and night difference but a good improvement.
Ill post a photo next week after the car settles a bit more from the coils. I have it sent about 2 finger gap for the winter.

So you're 19x8.5 et 45 with a 245 tire? Just asking because those are the same wheel specs I ordered for my Rotiforms. The fronts in your photo look just anout flush with the 15mm spacer, but the rears poke just a few millimeters...am I seeing that right? I'm hoping to find a nice flush fitment with my coilovers and wheel/tire choice, so I'm trying to get as much info as I can collect. lol
