Fondmetal (http://www.getyourwheels.com/wheels/wheel-brand-163_fondmetal-wheels/wheel-size-all/wheel-bolt-pattern-all/vehicle-all)has been around since 1972, some may remember them from their involvement in F1 racing. Recently their presence has been mostly focused in Europe.

Fondmetal (http://www.getyourwheels.com/wheels/wheel-brand-163_fondmetal-wheels/wheel-size-all/wheel-bolt-pattern-all/vehicle-all)is now making a new push to bring their wheels back into the US market, and we are the first to offer these to the US market! Just wanted to share this from the S5/RS5 forum [:)]

They were involved more than just as a supplier, they were a constructor, with their own F1 cars... which performed poorly though, heh. They still make racing wheels, but not for F1.

It's a requirement for the western European market, just like JWL is a requirement for the Japanese market. All Fondmetal wheels are both TUV and JWL/VIA certified.

Fondmetal is part of the group of wheel makers with real decades of true experience in pioneering, developing and racing their wheels... along with Enkei, BBS, RAYS, OZ and Apptech. Unlike the meaningless claims of combined experience (doing what exactly?) every boutique wheel maker in America makes, right after they tell you they make the finest wheels in the world. Clearly, their world doesn't extend past their backyards.

They definitely know how to make a a great wheel, their 9Forged (http://www.getyourwheels.com/view-wheel/fondmetal-wheels/fondmetal-9-forged-audi-titanium) wheel is insanely light!
19" - 16.75 lbs
20" 19.29 lbs (http://www.fondmetal.com/en/alloy-wheels/9performance/9forged-titanium) [o_o]

that last wheel is pretty hot and VERY light! wow!

Never heard of the company before. I wont be the rest mule for them on the S4, but would love to see those in 20s on someones car!

I just want to share that this wheel is 9200 bones for a set of 4!!!! [o_o]

They look nice, but I could never justify spending that amount of money on a car that is not a GT racecar. IDK, just my 2 cents.

And insanely expensive too..

I tend to agree with the guy above me - I can't imagine dropping that much $$$ on a set of rims for an S4, even if it is "a $50,000 car" like so many around here like to remind us. A Ferrari? Maybe, but not an S4, sorry.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they probably aren't worth that much, they look spectacular and are probably awesome wheels based on the construction and specs alone. Just too much to justify putting on a DD car, IMHO.

Totally understandable. Its not for everybody. Its for those who wont settle for anything but the best/lightest. Same reason why some people will drop $5000+ on a titanium exhaust!

Luckily the 9RR is much more reasonably priced. The 19x9.5 +42 fitment comes out to well under $2000 for the set!

That is a lot more reasonable. I'll have to go check those out. Thanks.

edit: Based on the website, it doesn't look like the 9RR comes in a 19" fitment, only 20s, but your first post suggests otherwise. Is this just a discrepancy on the website?

It doesn't seem to show those for me when my vehicle is set to be '2014 Audi S4' from the drop downs in the Search Filter on the upper right. Only shows me 20x9 and 20x8.5 for some reason.. [:/]

I dont think their vehicle application guide if fully working correctly yet.

Best fitment for your S4 would be 19x9.5" which is perfect for the B8!

Any plans in the future for a 18x8.5?

If there is enough demand, Fondmetal is definitely open to bringing in new fitments. If we can get some sort of group buy going with 5-10 people I'm sure we can make it happen.
The 18"s only weigh 19lbs, and they're definitely priced right!

In the meantime, they do have an 18x8 +38, which will work better than the 18x8 +45.
Except it is in 5x114.3 so we can redrill it to 5x112, which is a very minor redrill.

Just talked to Fondmetal, and awesome news, they have another finish!

Here is Titanium:

All Titanium and Matte Black fitments are in stock and ready to ship!
They dont have any Silver at all. But are willing to bring it if there is demand. They receive shipments every 3 weeks!

Sick looking wheels, but ugly center caps and text is too large on the inside IMO.

Ketzer7
06-04-2014, 01:51 PM
These 9RRs are starting to kind of grow on me, but also agree with F40LM that the center caps don't do them any favors...

I had been toying with the idea of getting some OZ Ultraleggera HLTs in silver, but pleasantly surprised these beat even those in the weight department.. [o_o]

Jason- Couple of questions.. What's the manufacturing method on these? I presume flow forming or similar given the price point? In the picture of the Porsche wheels above, I also presume that is the titanium color you mention?

No silver either, huh? So if you order a silver set from your website, they won't come in for ~3 weeks like you stated?

Thanks!

Glad you like them! The centerlocks in the photos I took is actually the Matte Black finish. The photos were taken in direct sunlight on a very bright day so it makes the finish look lighter.

I will ask about the manufacturing process. I know they are cast, but dont know if it is flow formed or not. Seems like they have to be in order to achieve these kinds of weights.

Funny story, when the wheels were brought over, I thought for sure the 9RR was forged and at the same price point as the 9Forged. I mentioned to a co-worker "These are nice, but how do I sell these for $9,000!?"
He told me they werent forged, and I wouldn't believe him. He told me to look at the price and I was blown away by how well priced they were.
I came straight to Audizine to share the news! [>_<]

Regarding Silver: Pretty much, if you placed the order through the website I would give you a call when I see the order to let you know about the ETA and ask if you are ok with the wait prior to charging the order!

We're going to need some pics of the 9 and the other OP one in either Black or Titanium on an S4 to get a good idea of the wheel. These won't have any dish to them as I think the offset is controlled via the hub depth instead, so some may not like them because no dish. Also, weigh them when you get them and post that info like they do on the Merc and BMW forums cuz you know... some of us want to see actual numbers on a scale, not on paper or virtual text in cyberspace.

I personally think this wheel would look perfect on an X5 or X3, looks almost like the OEM style.

I was impressed by the machine work on these wheels:

If you look closely at the silver part of the spokes, the lines you see are actually all machined grooves, and then the wheel is clearcoated so it feels smooth to the touch!

Cool thing about the Alpha set above, it was a brushed base with a matte smoked powercoat over it, in the sun it looks very light, but in the shade it darkens up:
