I searched but could not find info, has anyone upgraded to a t25 turbo? I ask because there is a t25 for sale local at a good price. I have only had experience with a t28 which looks identical but I am sure flows different. it has an A/R 80 housing. would this turbo even be worth it or a waste of time for a 1.8t?

What is the spec on the turbo exactly

The difference between the T25 and T28 has to do with the compressor. The T28 simply use a T3 compressor mated to a T25 turbine. Basically the same as Garrett going with a T3T4 which is a T3 turbine and T4 compressor. Its essentially a hybrid turbo. The T25 are smaller and less capable then the T28 though with a limit on Compressor flow to about 30 lb min which is on the high side of them.

It depends on the turbo compressor specs as to what type of HP it will produce. To give you an idea the Nissan SR20DET turbo from the S13 is essentially a GT2554R minus the ball bearing cart. It can make about 280rwhp completely maxed out.

Something else to note is some of the Garrett T25 turbos used plastic (or ceramic) turbines and they are great for spool but can not andle boost. The turbine will literally come apart at anything past stock boost pressure.

I would bet the turbo you are reffering to is the Nissan S13 turbo I mentioned since it uses the .80 housing. It should be snap ring back compressor housing with a 2 bolt inlet and 3 bolt outlet.

seller is stating its from a 240sx sr20det redtop, M24 A/R/ .80 GARRETT # 14411-50F00 ( WHICH I THINK IS A NISSAN #)

that's all the info I have at the moment, also its $300 if that matters in guidance. I am not looking to do a crazy BT but I did enjoy the t28 kit a had back in the day on my B5. I just don't know much about specs of turbos. this would be for a future project .

I don't think that turbo will make much more power than your ko3

that's what I as afraid of...pretty much a k04 then, smaller than what I was ideally looking for,

Its the same exact turbo in the elim kit gt28xx or whatever its called. Its literally a gt2554r minus the ball bearings and it should be good for 225awhp but spool fast.a lot better then the k03.

Its this one.

it does not have the bb though. It uses 54mm exducer on the compressor. It flows 28 lb min which is more then k04 016.

T25 is good for 250~whp on the sr20 and its better then a k04 because the t25 actually holds boost till redline and the t28 is good for 300 whp on the sr20

Not trying to nit pick you on this but some t25s can't make 200whp. Some of the last t25s could do ok but the most I have ever seen from a non modded t25 was 280rwhp from a redtop s13. Now t28 is different since they are essentially the same as what you get in the gt2860 and gt2560 line. Nissan actually used a t28 with gt2860rs compressor on a blue bird in japan and it could make 350fwhp. Some t28s were also ball bearing on compressor side so you have to know what you are buying before getting into them.

There is actually jb version of the gt2860rs as well. There is also t28 specific turbines which are bigger then t25 turbines.

You are correct,

it was all ball park, I didn't want to get into details posting from a phone [:)]

I think you missed what I was trying to point out. T25 and T28 is simply a turbo designation. You have to pay attention to the specs of the turbo to see what its potential is. Just like k04 and k03 mean really nothing except turbine size. There some k04 that can't make 180whp and some that can make 350whp. Its all about flow.
