[SOLD]2006 B7 A4 Quattro S-Line, 3.2L, 6MT (107,xxx miles) (http://www.panjo.com/buy/2006-b7-a4-quattro-s-line-3-2l-6mt-107-xxx-miles-34658)
Selling my beloved A4 due to work related relocation to the UK.
2006 A4 Quattro, 3.2L, S-Line, 6 Speed MT, Bose
Fully optioned (except for Navigation)
Body in good shape. One or two minor door dings/scratches
Battery replaced around 105K
One new tire, the other 3 could last 10-15k miles
4 full wheels(18 inches) are in good condition but with some surface scratches and some curb marks
Full size extra tire but I can't vouch for the integrity of the spare wheel
Car is located in Somerset NJ at the moment but may be moved to MD after February 25th
Please read carefully as the car comes heavily discounted for reasons that may be of concern to some - see issues below. Overall, I think it's a good value for anyone interested.
Other than the 3 'issues' below, the car is in top shape as far as I know, I still drive it everyday and for the last 2 years have driven it between MD and NJ most weekends
(1) Salvage Title (Maryland)
I bought this car in April 2010 from an auction @ 54,xxx miles. I was fortunate to find the repair estimate with the contact details of the previous owner who informed me the insurance company decided to salvage it because the fuel line had been damaged when he hit a curb in the blizzard of Feb 2010. All I did was change the fuel line, replace bumpers and headlights and some minor body/paint work on the passenger side. Still have photos/paperwork of how it was purchased from the auction if interested.
So no damage to frame, engine, suspension etc. I have since put over 53K miles on it and still use it as a DD.
2) Occasional 'left headlight dipped' message. This is on and off. Sometimes I go a month and not see it.
3) Clunking Issues: There is a loud clunking noise when I turn the steering or brake. This has gotten progressively louder in the last 2 years and I was waiting until the weather improves to look into it again as previous efforts yielded no solution. In any case, I have driven at least 28K miles since this issue started
A little history if you have the time...
I first heard a slight noise from the driver side front wheel area when I back out of parking slots around 75-78K (Jan 2012). I took it to the dealer where I usually service/maintain it- Criswell Audi in Annapolis MD. They diagnosed a 'loose nut '.
I couldn't immediately tell if this solved it or not as the noise was on and off at the time -sometimes it's there , sometimes not. A few days later it was back and I was happy to return to the dealership so they could earn the $135 or so they had charged me to tighten the loose nut. They couldn't find anything but recommend to change the left side lower control arm which I eventually did after I replaced my tires.
But the noise (slight at the time) wouldn't go away. I decided to stop wasting money and comb the web for solutions. Last May, I replaced the front calipers and the noise was gone for a day or so only to return. It has since become louder and consistent and perhaps worse in cold weather.
I was going to wait until Spring to find an Indy to look into possible solutions that I have read on here (loose calipers, strut nuts etc.) but with our relocation in a couple of weeks, I have no choice to let the car go as-is.
