View Full Version : VCDS/Hidden Menu Mods Updated For Facelift 2013 B8.5's

I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed yet so I thought I'd get the ball rolling. Many of the VAG-COM mods discovered for the B8 platform don't work the same, or at all, on the B8.5. Here's my analysis thus far:
Audi A4/S4/A5/S5 B8.5 VCDS (VAG-COM) Codes
(Modified from list available here: http://www.a5oc.com/forums/audi-a5-s5-tech/28600-complete-vcds-vagcom-mod.html)
I also recommend keeping an eye on this site for the latest VAG-COM mods: http://www.audienthusiasts.com/

Disable bulb error message with LED reverse lights installed
http://www.a5oc.com/forums/a5-performance-mods/27314-cree-led-reverse-lights.html#post296914
I got it. I figured the coding would be different between the A/S4 and the A/S5, since we have four bulbs compared to their 2. Once I got the channel it was just a matter of figuring out which decimals coded for the reverse lights (or which 1's I had to change to 0's to turn off the reverse light sensors).
Steps:
1. Module 46 Central Convenience > Security Access 16 > 16017 (use this access code, not the one the ross-tech suggests)
2. Adaption 10 > Channel 181 >Read
The value you get is 65535 (at least that was mine). When you convert that to decimal it comes out to 1111111111111111. Bits 5,6,7,8 code for the reverse lights (1111RLRL11111111) so when you convert them it becomes 1111000011111111. Convert that back to binary and it becomes 61695
3. Enter 61695, hit test then save. Done.
No more reverse light error message. Thanks to awhk82 for showing me the path, couldn't have done it otherwise. These steps are for the US Spec lights, but if you get the value 65535 then the above steps should work in ROW.
I got the Cree ones also and they are nice and bright. What I don't like about them is when they are off and in the housing, the shape and angle of the lens gives of a kind of yellowish tint, which you can see through the glass. Also it gives off more of a spotlight effect than actually filling the housing with LED light. I may have to find another brand that doesn't give off that yellowish tint, but for now it's ok.
Edit: BTW I didn't need or use any resistors. Also the face lift model IS different being that it only needs 2 bulbs instead of 4. If you follow the above method it should still work, as it did for someone else when they tried it on theirs.

Disable bulb error message with LED reverse lights installed

Done.

This is s great thread, but I have 2 questions:
1. How can I change my internal temperatures from F to C?
2. The roll windows with remote coding got accepted but I still can't use it with the remote. Do I have to do anything else? Nothing new in the MMI

1: that's in a car settings screen. I don't have my car in front of me, but I know its a corner menu that gets you there. It' should be under "measurement units" where you can even change your speedo readout.
2: you need to go to "central locking" in the settings menu, should have appeared at the top. Try your key with windows open to make sure it is properly coded.

just change the display mode using the button on the right stalk. if you want the economy screen up without the suggestions i guess you could shut them off but seems pointless.

yup.. just fyi though, the screens are for the latest version of VCDS (12.x). They have new dropdowns unlike version 11.x. Also, the workshop code and security code may be different for the 14s, couldn't tell you though since mine is a 13.

I just got my VAGCOM today, and when I tried this, I got a warning saying: "This is an uninitialized control module!" with a suggestion to select some defaults. I tried selecting "No", but it turns out this module needs something to accept the change. According to a Ross-Tech doc (http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/adaptation_screen.html), it says this would be a case where I need to select "Yes." Just making sure this is normal/common. It's scary. ;)

never mind guys. experimented around and found that in the original code it says to change bit 3 to bit 0 to disable corner ambers. with the check option available i unchecked bit 3 and checked bit 0 (which turns on the front signals with city lights). basically you uncheck BOTH for a nice, clean front headlights with just the LED DRL/xenons.
also, VCDS does indeed work on Macbook pro running parallels with windows XP

I think the general consensus around here is to bump threads instead of create new ones. Its the internet, I don't see the issue with either.

Channel 64: 3
Channel 63: 3
Set channels 63-65 to 1, 2, 3, or 4 to set the ADS default to Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, or Individual, respectively]
Just found something interesting... if you use the settings listed above, I lose the ability to select the 4 different programs in my facelift car... My channel defaults are: 0, 218, 0 and 15 - respectively. If I change these to 0, 3, 0 and 15 (basically changing only channel 64 to 3 - the system will automatically leave itself in sport mode when I select drive. Interesting. What I would really like is to confirm that it stays in "Dynamic" mode each time I start the vehicle, which is where I leave it.... but alas, I cannot seem to confirm this. Anyone else have this issue?

You shouldn't have to do that its just a selection from the drop down box. You just select the right one and click do it and your done. It will come back saying coding accepted. The only time you need to worry about security codes or workshop codes when you change the programming of the parking brake module. (just as far as all the VCDS mod coding goes)

hate to disagree, but it would not do it. Once I selected the D on/S on, it wanted codes and would not "do it". Gave me an error message that it would "probably fail" and it did. Selecting either option it gave me failed to work. Only thing left to do is try to enter the codes manually. Don't know if this is something fluky for the 14s or not. Haven't tried it on my son's later-build car yet.

I can confirm that this works on the 14s as I set it up yesterday. I was initially getting a WSC error when I said "No" but it took it successfully when saying "Yes"
Has anyone with a '15 done coding for disabling the after-wipe of windshield wipers? The dropdown menu is different on my car (no option for anything like "x ** 8K1 955 119 ** WWS xxxx")

If you press and hold the bottom button while the lap timer is running, it will reset to "0 laps". This way you don't see the line with lap 1 at 0:00.

you mean the "mix" i.e. shuffle setting? the only time it doesn't go back to it for me is when i switch to a different external media, as in, using my phone via the AMI cable. I don't have Nav and thus no bluetooth streaming. But the equivalent would be i suppose if you go from SD card to bluetooth back to SD card.
otherwise, it sticks to shuffle just fine for me, switching back and forth from radio, or even upon turning the car on/off.

maybe it's a "feature" of the Nav system. [:)] Sort of how not remembering that it was on mute when you turn the car off (which i think is a feature of both systems).
i don't have Nav so i don't know if our firmware is the same... or how to check the version.
This may be a stupid question but will a $10 cable and CD from Ebay do the trick and if so any recommendations?
Is everyone here using the full OEM version worth $400 or are you using a Chinese version which does the trick?

I'm wondering if anyone has found a way to decrease the brightness of the LEDs in the B8.5 taillights. Those bastards are way bright. Not the glowing LED 'tube' at the bottom, but the array of LEDS across the top that light up when braking or using the turn signal. I think at 75% of their current intensity they would still be very bright in comparison to other cars on the road, but not so offensively bright to the person driving behind you.

UMMM are you serious. Do you want someone to rear end you when they cant tell that your braking?? They are that bright for a reason, to say to the person behind you HEY IM APPLYING THE BRAKES. Me personally rather not deal with an accident even if it wasn't my fault for something like that.

Just step up and buy the real deal. You paid a lot of money for the car. Get the real thing. The china versions sometimes do not work fully and you cant take advantage of the updates. Its only 300 anyways. You just need the Hex + Can cable version. You don't need the wifi or the other version. If you think its a little pricy then maybe you have a buddy with a VW or Audi that you can go in half with and split the cost.

All due respect Steve, but you sure pick some odd things to be concerned about. The brighter the brake lights, the better. If you got rearended and they found out that your brake lights were modified, you'd probably be found equally at fault.

I appreciate the input. Just to clarify, I'm not suggesting to make them dim. Obviously they should still light up much brighter than the glowing LED strip at the bottom when the brakes/flashers/turn signals are applied. I'm suggesting to make them a little less intense, like the B8 taillights were. There's bright and then there's really, really effing bright which is where I think the B8.5 taillights are. I'll put it this way - I could look straight at my B8 taillights blinking and they were sufficiently bright without making me squint or blink. Meanwhile I was walking up behind the new car the other day and hit the unlock button and I was nearly seeing spots after those lights went off.
Side note, semi-related: I think it's also a safety hazard to disable the front LED wink when the turn signals are active. I did this mod on both the B8 and the B8.5. I've noticed on various occasions, at various ambient lighting and intersections, that people seem to misjudge my intent to make left turns. It has happened so often that it makes me think they don't see my turn signal blinking. I happened the catch a reflection off the back of a black car in front of me yesterday when I had my left turn signal on (low beams and LED strips were also illuminated) and I have to say that the turn signal blinking was far less apparent than on a stock car with the LEDs winked off. In other words, I feel that the brightness and proximity of the LED strip drowns out some of the visibility of the turn signal bulb.
But anyway, you guys answered my question - no known tweaks for taillight brightness. Thanks!

it doesn't work in the B8.5 it is just not there.
Also who cares how bright they are your not looking at them when you drive. If someone hits you in the rear its A their fault and B if they complain about how bright they were than that's audi's problem. I would just leave them alone. If anything I want them to flash when I have to apply the brakes really hard or light up brighter.

Hi guys, picked up my 15 Sepang last night. Used all the codes and most everything worked. Can't get interior lights to work though. It shows on MMI, but is grayed out. When I push it says, The selected system is currently not available. Set it to 5 and clicked the box turning it on per instructions. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Wanted to update this as I found in The other vag com thread that there is a third step. I changed the third process in the hidden menu under lighting from 9/9 to 1/9 (komfort). Still not working though. Assuming somebody has a 15 and has ran into this. Thanks!

That feature actually exists. I believe it's called Adaptive Braking or some such thing and is available via VCDS. I had it activated on my B8 but I have no proof it ever actually worked.

I have this feature enabled via coding and every time I threshold brake to get close to ABS (on the track of course [cool]) the hazards automatically come on. I believe in addition it actually blinks the brake extremely fast, have never asked anyone else what they saw lol. The hazards stay on for about 3 seconds after the brake event and then they automatically turn off.

Very interesting! I always wondered if it would activate the hazard light blinker on the dashboard in this scenario. If that's the case then I can confirm that I never braked hard enough to utilize this feature.

Yea I like that feature. I always put on my hazards as a precaution when im on the hwy and I come to stopped traffic from hwy speeds just to warn people behind me. Id rather do that then deal with getting rearended

Yes, and I have a last update as it is working now. Nowhere that I have seen states that you have to go into VCDS and turn anything on. So I started looking into a link and realized that I needed to go into Central Electronics, Long Code Helper, Byte 16, click Bit 6 (Ambient Lighting ). I am surprised that either I missed this or that it was never listed. Somehow I think I missed it when I was using the VCDS to turn on the hidden menu function. And I did go back and changed the third function in the hidden menu from 5/9 back to 1/9. Again, that is the third menu. Everything works perfectly now and I am thrilled about it. Thanks!

I tried to access the Headlight Range [55] control module yesterday via VCDS and when I clicked on the button it chugged for 15-20 seconds and then returned an error that said something like "...Cannot connect to control module!" and would not let me into it. I tried accessing the individual headlight module for the left side ( [29] I believe) and it returned the same error. Multiple tries yielded the same results. I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my cable, my version of VCDS, my car, or my headlight/auto-leveling system? I was able to access various other control modules so it seems that the connection between the VCDS program and the car was working properly.
If someone could do me a huge favor and see whether they are able to access either the [55] or [29] headlight control modules, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance...

This may be a stupid question but will a $10 cable and CD from Ebay do the trick and if so any recommendations?
Is everyone here using the full OEM version worth $400 or are you using a Chinese version which does the trick?
Thanks
Thats dangerous.
No offense but I dont think $350 is a lot of money for a genuine reliable product that can save you its cost in one trip to the dealer to scan for codes...
If you screw up your ecu with the chinese knockoff which I have heard of before... then its another expensive trip to the dealer anyway to reset your ecu.

I believe the headlight adjustment is still guarded by audi and ross tech must not have the access or the method down just yet.
Its something I am also waiting for because I want to raise my low beams slightly for more road distance.

Thanks for the input. For whatever it's worth, I ended up simply adjusting the headlight projectors manually using the white adjusting screws on the headlight housings, and it seems to have held that position for 1+ week. I made sure the have the car sitting on as level of a surface as possible when adjusting, in case that made a difference.

Thats worth a lot!
I was told there was no manual adjustment and had heard of people shimming the level sensor to achive this.
I wonder if its only on the S4 and after a certain year.
Where exactly was the screw located? Is it obivous? I will check on the Q when I install my test pipe this weekend.

On the B8 and the B8.5 S4's there is a white knob/screw toward the back of the headlight housing such that if you have the hood open and are looking down at the housing, the white knob/screw will be facing up at you.
This is the back of a B8 A4/S4 headlight housing - note the white circular piece to the right and up a bit from the low beam dust cap. That's the adjusting screw. If I remember correctly, turning Clockwise raises the beams, counterclockwise lowers.

Has anyone with a '15 done coding for disabling the after-wipe of windshield wipers? The dropdown menu is different on my car (no option for anything like "x ** 8K1 955 119 ** WWS xxxx")
Disable After-wipe of windscreen wipers
[09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> [Dropdown] -> "x ** 8K1 955 119 ** WWS xxxx" -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1
Bit 3 - Remove check mark (1 = active)
I tried to do this mod too and was unsuccessful. Did you (or anyone) ever get this figured out? That after-swipe is super irritating!
Also, anyone know how to completely disable the headlight washers? I saw on the first page there was some stuff about changing the headlight washer interval or some such thing, but I want to disable them completely. Maybe that means I have to change the interval to Zero?

I think you can disable the headlight washers by going into 09-Cent. Elect. and then unchecking the box in byte 20 that says headlight washers. I could be wrong about the byte number, but I know it is in control module 09.

OK thanks for the update. And yes, apparently my 2015 has headlight washers. I didn't see them anywhere on the build sheet for the car so I presume they are now standard equipment. Next time you are driving at night with your lights on, activate the windshield washer but watch the front end of your car....you'll see water spraying up past your headlights. It gets all over your hood and drips down the fenders. Pretty annoying when you've just washed your car!
When you look at your front bumper you will see two rectangular panels, one below each headlight. I've never actually seen the spray nozzle come out but I'm guessing it pushes straight out.

change to 0

This is what I see in VCDS for the coding related to what I gather is the "after swipe" of the windshield wipers. The wipers currently do the after-swipe which I want to disable. This screen would lead me to believe that the feature is already disabled ("inactive"). Am I missing something? This is on a 2015 in case it makes a difference.

I used this sequence:

Dropdown Box choose the string that contains "WWS" towards the end.
[Long Coding Helper]

Change Bit 3 to "0" to disable ("1"=active or checked box)

Hmm alright, so I guess the wording in the VCDS screen was throwing me off, because I read it to mean that the after swipe is inactive when the box is checked. I'll uncheck the box and see if it makes a difference.
EDIT: I went back in and unchecked the box for Bit 3, then tested the change by spraying the washer fluid and it only wiped three times and did not do the after-wipe, so I think it worked.
Also by the way, the option in the control module drop-down menu that I had to choose to access the windshield wiper settings in my 2015 was as shown below:

RACE MODE! I'd be interested in this mode if that's possible. I'd also be interested if there was a way to turn off the other modes I never use. For example, I never use auto or individual so I would prefer to turn them off. I like the way the 2009-2012's drive select worked as you could change with a single button press. With the 2013s move to a single button that "cycles" through, it is distracting to change to dynamic when you want to do it quickly. I'm usually driving at high speeds at that time and taking my eyes off the road to make sure I select dynamic is also dangerous. My preference would be a VAG COM setting where when you turn off traction control, dynamic is automatically selected. Anyone know if that's possible? I'll check it with my VAGCOM this weekend but I'm not too keen on changing too many values at once without knowing what they do.

This is what I've noticed with Efficiency Mode. So imagine you enable cruise control and are cruising along at 70 mph. You come up on a car doing 65 and can't go around so you cancel your cruise control till you can pass. Say they turn off and you hit Resume to go back to 70. Normally your car with race back up to the set speed. With Efficiency Mode enabled, you will slowly increase speed back to 70. My guess it does this to conserve fuel. I also believe it lets the car Coast a bit more freely downhill instead of applying break to keep you at 70. So, on a road trip it will help you with maybe 1 or 2 mpg.

I also believe it lets the car Coast a bit more freely downhill instead of applying break to keep you at 70. So, on a road trip it will help you with maybe 1 or 2 mpg.
Very interesting....I will give this a try on my next extended freeway trip. I never liked how this car actively applies the brakes when the cruise control is on and speed exceeds the set point.

The good news is that Ross-Tech has your back!
You can find the original coding in this folder/file on your computer:
C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Debug\codinglog.txt
Thanks for the info, I didn't know that. I ended up having the dealer reflash the central electronics module, which took care of the issue. Apparently cars with adaptive headlights don't like being messed with.

Hey guys,
I can't believe it took me this long to find this thread. Anyway, I'm doing the Halogen to Xenon conversion on my 2013 B8.5 Premium A4 as soon as my Kufatec cable gets here. Can anyone verify if the same codes for the B8 work for our B8.5's?
Here's what is recommended for the B8's:
09 – Cent. Elect.]
[Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper
Byte 0: From 29 → 26 = change from halogen to xenon bulbs
Byte 2: From 00 → 10 = enable LED DRL
Byte 14: From 7F → 1D = bi-xenon high-beams
Byte 15: From 5F → 0D = bi-xenon high-beams
I would really appreciate the help as on the old Halogen conversion thread http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/341909-DIY-Halogen-to-Bixenon-Conversion-Complete?highlight=Xenon+conversion I never read anyone with a B8.5 try it.

He is pointing out that you may never get the cable from kufatec.
Because apparently kufatec and oemplus are the same person selling things out of a garage and they either have serious issues with their supply chain or they are a scam and stealing peoples money.

Want to change DRL brightness % how do i do this?
couple notes:
1) Adjust Headlight LED Strip brightness (Page 1 of this thread)
[09 – Cent. Elect.] [Security Access - 16] (enter security code. One of the default codes is- 20113)
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 3
Set between 5 and 100
2) the brightness % is only with the city lights on. in other words, with the headlight switch set to "off" the DRLs are already at 100% brightness. when you turn the switch to city lights or headlights the DRLs dim significantly. the change in "brightness %" affects how much or how little they dim.

So have you tried at night? i can only see the footwell lights on at night.
When you open the doors, the footwell lights go to full brightness.
When the doors are closed, and the dial is at full brightness, the lights dim to probably 40% of the door open brightness.
1. Do your footwell lights turn on at night when the door opens?
2. Is there any light from the footwell at night with the lights on Auto and headlights on?
You may need to try all the steps again (Coding and Hidden Menu).

You need to code in the ability to access the hidden menu.
Hidden Menu in MMI Navi Plus (3G): (Only for Navigation Equipped Cars)
[5F - Information Electr.]
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 6 -> Change 0 to 1
For my 2015- I had to make 3 changes to get mine to work- I don’t think the B8.5 guide lists them all which is why some others are having problems.
1. Enable the hidden menu to get to the options:
[5F - Information Electr.]
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 6 -> Change 0 to 1
Reset MMI push "menu" + center knob + upper right silver button
2. Enter hidden menu:
Hold down "car" + "menu" for about 5 seconds
[Hidden menu] [car] [carmenuoperation] [interior light] Set to 5
[Hidden menu] [car] [cardevicelist] [interior light] Check the box to Enable
[Hidden menu] [car] [carbusassignment] [interior light] Change to CAN Komfort 1/9
Reset MMI push "menu" + center knob + upper right silver button
3. Enable coding in Cent Elec.

I had to run through nearly the same process as jl87. However, I did Step 2 a little differently. A poster on page 2 (I think) said to use Channel 5/9 ([I]EXTENDED) instead of 1/9 Komfort under the 'carbusassignment' menu.
Basically, if jl87's steps do not work, then go back to Step 2 in his instructions and do the following:
2. Enter hidden menu:
Hold down "car" + "menu" for about 5 seconds
[Hidden menu] [car] [carmenuoperation] [interior light] Set to 5
[Hidden menu] [car] [cardevicelist] [interior light] Check the box to Enable
[Hidden menu] [car] [carbusassignment] [interior light] Change to CAN Extended 5/9
Reset MMI push "menu" + center knob + upper right silver button
Otherwise, I did exactly the same steps as ji87 posted. Perhaps a mod or the OP could update the first post. For me, the Interior Lighting option turns on the front and rear footwell lights when the headlight switch is in the DRL position or headlights on position. It's a really nice touch [wrench]
FYI: I have a MY2014 w/ MMI.

Hmm... Three questions:
1) What happens when you "click" on the Interior Lighting option?
2) If you can get into the menu (i.e., it's not greyed out) - what is the dial set to? If it's all the way down, then the footwell lights will stay off. It needs to be at least one "notch" up for the footwell lights to turn on
3) If the menu is greyed out, did you do Step 3 of jl87's guide? Out of all the guides for Interior Lighting that I have seen online, almost none of them mention this step. If you do not do this step, then the Interior Lighting menu will show up, but it will be greyed out and will error out when you select it. This is what happened to me until I saw a post on page 2 of this thread explaining this was needed to get the menu working
Hope that helps.

Hi Komet and thank you for responding,
1. will take me to the dial for setting how dark/bright light I want.
2. The dial is in the middle and I can tun it up or down but no light is on.
3. Yes it is enabled in central el. (step 3 you are referring to)
Everything seems correct but no light come on in the footwells, they do if I open the door. No change when I turn on DRL or headlights.
Have me stumped.
Anything I am missing?
EDIT: Went and tried again and the lights do come on when I turn the dial, but only stays on for 3-4 sec. and the dims out. If I turn the dial they come back on for another 3-4 sec. Tried Step 3 setting with booth Extended 5/9 as well as Comfort 1/9. Makes no difference. Why is it not staying on???

To access the "hidden menu" can sometime be a bit of a pain. If you are sure it is activated (using vcds) make sure the MMI is fully booted up and then go to car menu. Press "menu" and "car" buttons at the same time. You might have to press (at least 5 sec.) several times for this to work. On my 2015 S4 this is how it is, but after repeated pressing of the buttons I get the green "hidden menu".
My issue is that all this works buy the lights do not stay on, like they are on a off delay and shuts down after 3-4 sec.

Read post #156 if you follow those instructions in hidden menu it should no longer be greyed out.

No one who has any ideas or have seen the same issue? I really would like to get this working.
Research I've done on the rear park distance display activation is that it doesn't work for the B8.5. You need a different module / hardware to activate it.

When I run an auto scan I get an alarm and the dash says stabilization esc fault. But there's no actual fault codes thrown in vcds. This happens every time. Anyone have any ideas why it might be doing that?

First off, I'd like to say THANKS to everyone who helped put this thread together to share coding for our cars. My Hex-Can cable arrived in yesterday's mail so I spent a good portion of last night coding my 2015AR. I was pretty successful in coding my vehicle to my preferences. The only change I was unable to succeed at was coding of the windows to ROLL DOWN. I am able to get the windows and sunroof to close, but not the opposite. Reading through the threads, I remember reading someone saying that "windows" would appear in the MMI, but mine does not do that. Could someone shed some light on what I am doing wrong or forgetting to do?

Bring up the menu on the MMI screen? car>security i believe. You'll have to set your windows/roof to 'on' to allow the control with your key fob..

Update to my windows/roof opening issue. After reading the latest input from you'll, I determined that I overlooked the "long hold" on the remote part of the MMI screen. I cant believe I missed it. After adjusting all three to "open," I now can control all three with the remote. Thanks a ton fellas! [up]
Hello
Wonder if someone can help me. Just done the ads mod on my Fl hdd mmi and I had sme weird settings as default
Channel 63 was 0
64 was 218
65 was 0
66 was 15 as expected
I have set mine to
63 is 3
64 is 3
65 is 3
66 is 47
Is thus ok or should I set 63 to 65 back to 0, 218, 0?
I followed the guide on audi enthusiasts but it didn't mention. This 218 figure
Also I remember on pre facelift when you did the bit select part it now say just do bit 2 but before I did 0,1,2,3 and 5
What is 1 as it's not listed on website

Yes those appear to be the stock values. I think 218 controls the steering bit.
On my car i simply set all four values to 3 for dynamic (i think). However i dont have the magnetic suspension or the other thing. I only saw an improvement in throttle response (engine) and steering became slightly tighter.

It's been a while since I messed with this. But my current drive select settings put my car in dynamic every time I start it up, and the only choices are dynamic and individual. The reason for this is, when first keying on the car, EVERY other way I've configured the car puts the engine/trans in 'D' mode despite drive select being in dynamic, individual or whatever mode was last saved.
The first 3 channels 63-65 set how the system defaults. The last (channel 66) is a decimal representation of a binary string that sets which modes "exist" as choices. E.g. 1, 2, 4, 16, 32, 64 all represent whether a particular 'mode' is activated. Like I said, I prefer to only have individual (where I set suspension to soft) and dynamic...while starting the car in dynamic.
Let me know if any of you are interested in my settings and I'll go check. But if you can follow what I've said, it should be easy to track down how this is done (also search my posts in the vcds thread).

I'd like to know what 0, 218, 0 , 47 would do
The setting you have would start the car in whatever setting it was in last...
and the last 47 would be
1 (individual?)
+ 16 (auto?)
+ 32 (comfort?)
= 47
which means you can cycle to any mode that is enabled by 1, 16, 32.

Any one know how to reset the lap timer?
1- hit pause (push "down" on the right selector switch)
2- while in pause mode, hold "down" then press and hold "reset"
3- then let go of "down" and it should reset
Not very intuitive, is it?
Does anybody know how to disable the chime for when you open the car door when the car is on? Or at least quiet it down?
I have yet to figure out how to completely disable it, but you can hit the reset button twice to silence it.
So I have been playing with vcds and ads what I would also like to know what is the DSR that you disable in 44 steering. The one that gives the the abs fault? What is it that is disabled and why doesn't ads work without disabling that option?

Yes, I can change the brightness via Vag-com. At night, 26 (default) looks good already. I tried setting it at 50, 80, 100 also; but 80-100 is superbright at night. Looks good but I'm afraid it will blind oncoming drivers. I believe daytime is at 100%, so I think that's way too bright. I set mine at 35 for now...

I did some digging around and found multiple people on various VW / Audi forums saying that following these steps in VCDS will have the same effect as leaving the battery unplugged for extended period of time to force the ECU to "unlearn" any adapted parameters: 01 -Engine -> Fault Codes - 02 -> Clear Codes
Can anyone here vouch for that?

Thanks for making the thread for B8.5 Audis! Would love to get some feedback from fellow B8.5 owners. Does anyone know if it's possible to disable the "euro" parking lights? My dealership claims that when the amber lights are disabled the car essentially defaults to the euro lights (turn signals in headlights). They continuously stay on when the headlights turn on. I'm trying to figure out a way to completely get rid of any orange lights at night.

spitefulcheerio, that's exactly what i'm looking to do! The lights look so clean without all of that orange light. Now i'm confused as to why my dealership told me this was not possible. They don't want to do it because it is a safety issue - that's all.
As I said, I did it through Carista so there was no coding. I simply switched the setting in one of the menus. Carista really is a great app for the price and you should consider picking up their dongle/app package.

The amber corners are dot/nhtsa required for public road use. Technically, a cop could give you a fix it ticket just like someone with a broken taillight. So the dealership would never do that for you out of liability. Sucks but that's how it goes...

That's how you learn. And chances are there's someone with a cable nearby that will let you borrow it, or even code your car for you. Carista is great, but having a cable is worth it if you really want to learn about your car. I have both and use my cable more than Carista.

* Is it possible for the car to always be in sport mode (reduced stability control).
* Has anyone ever played with reducing load on CPU or increasing nav refresh rate for a smoother nav animation?

Nothing on the rear tail light, any one else experiencing this?

The only time I ever got this to work was when I was driving pretty quick around the mountain roads around Crater Lake in Oregon, and around a corner almost slammed into 3 gigantic cows. This is a mountain road. I expected, at most, some big deer, but no, these were moo cows just chillin, at night, on the curvy road. My friend who was behind me said, wow cool, how did you do that with your lights? So it worked I guess.

One more mod I would like to do but seems to have problems with. 2015 S4.
Enable parking release without seatbelt.
53 parking brake - Security Access - Adaptation - Channel7 -set to 0.
I am not able to find "Channel 7 in the drop-down menu, any insights?
Thank you.
I know this is an old post, but I want to shed some light on this issue, as I just had to do this coding for a customer.
He had a 2016 A4 manual
VCDS version 15.7.4
there is no channel 4 or 7 to go by if you want to do the parking brake mods.
To allow e-brake release without seatbelt, you have to change the value in "Seatbelt evaluation" drop down. Change from enabled to disabled.
to allow e-brake release without pressing the brake pedal, you have to change the value in "Brake evaluation" drop down. Same as above.
the wording of the drop downs might not be exactly as noted, but you get the idea. In the 2016 there was no number value to change.
It took some time to figure out and I had to play around with several of the drop downs before we figured it out.
also, you need to re-enter the access code every time you wish to enter changes in the adaption menu.
So if you leave the module to test a change, you need to re-enter the code or the module won't let you do any changes.
Hope this helps someone.

bumping in case anyone has anything new...
I was able to adjust my LED to a value of 40 with the headlights on (any higher and you really have a hard time seeing the turn signal, so for safety reasons, I kept it at a value of 40, which gets rid of the yellowness at the default value of 26 and the intensity is enough to remain white/blue at night. Another reason I kept this is because now when I hit the turn signal during the day time, the LED brightness for that side turns down from 100% to 40% brightness instead of completely "winking" while the LED on the other side remains at 100%, adds a nice personal touch IMHO instead of keeping both at 100% by disabling the "wink" during the day.

Now that's a good idea. I think I'll turn the "wink" back on if that's the new effect. I have mine set at 40 too.

Agreed. I turned off winking, but this I like even better.

Sounds like there's too much winking going on here....
