I had a 2008 Audi A4 S-line manual transmission with dealer installed intake & chip... LOVED the car!!! Especially the sound of the intake and the "poof" of air when shifting.

I just purchased a 2010 A4 and with the recommendation of my husbands friend, I installed the chip and APR Carbonio intake. What an amazing difference in the performance!! He told me this is the best intake because it takes the outside air and not the hot air from the engine... blah... blah.... blah :) I'm not looking to build a rocket car, well maybe a little!! Girls gotta have fun too!!! I like the performance of APR in combination with the chip but I don't like the sound, much too quiet.

Can you recommend a good quality intake that is a little louder with that "poof" of air when shifting? Yes, I am a girl that is proud to drive a stick shift and not just make the big wheel go round & round!!

Eventually I would like to add a dual tip exhaust, but that's a whole new project.... Militek sounds nice so far but still exploring. First I have to make it look pretty... 19s wheels, high gloss black roof, mirrors, grille.... FUN STUFF!!

Any advice you can give is very much appreciated :) THANX!!

More boost will make your "poof" louder lol. The carbonio, being a big air box, will tend to be a little quieter with the diverter valve than say an open element cone filter. Performance or sound, you'll have to make the choice

Carbonio is designed to give a clean look and fit in without having to remove the engine cover for it to fit in neatly.

Get a mushroom or cone filter like one made by evo motorsport. That will let you hear some turbo chatter (compressor surge) too!

For the exhaust I would say go Remus - lovely rich note and deep bass to it. Way better than miltek imho.

Running a different style diverter valve (part responsible for the poof sound) will change the sound. Below we have a few available options that sound pretty different, check them out below.

Also here's a video show casing each and the sound they produce!
