going to do a coolant flush for the first time in a little bit..

the coolant itself looks fine (a little low and a little too watery however), but I've noticed around the reservoir it's looking quite sludgy/crusty. It's not dark brown as oil would look like, but it's turning a darker colour that has be speculating. Hopefully after the flush it stays cleaner.

a question if anyone knows off the top of their heads: any idea how much fluid that actually comes out and how much stays in unless I disconnect the water pump? I'll figure it out once I do the flush, but if someone already knows that'll save me a task

Front of the car lowered today. Now, it is in balance with the rear end of the car. At the same time lost in a mysterious rattle that has plagued it for a long time. Well, I look over the weekend. If the result is a permanent, great.[:)]

Random question. What are most people seeing boost spike at for a Revo Stage 1? I seem to be getting around 19psi. Wife claims she got it to 22psi, but I haven't seen it. And that seems high for a stage 1.

Put new front wipers, red coils and new cabin filter.
I re-gap my spark plugs to .028 (from .040) . It could be snake oil but it seem to get it's power and spooling sooner than with .040.

Next on the Do do list..
Fix washer pump,
Install Koni yellow and eibach springs (almost 2 years i have them laying around)
put some new rubber (Yokohama Avid envigor 235/40/18) on my staggered Miro 111 set.
Install my 034 HFC and my new OBX catback
change brake fluid
tint the windows.

I sold my Jetta last week, got some money to buy goodies :)

The only thing that would get me to go B8 is try out that supercharged 3 liter. The B7 looks better from the front, sides, and rear. Prefer the interior as well.

18 or 19 is average, though under perfect situations, boost can definitely be higher. When load is highest, you will see more boost some times. Like up a hill, or full throttle out of a sharp turn. I hit 23 psi the other day in 1st gear under perfect circumstances, but that definitely doesnt happen all the time.

Hmmm guys I need help.! [confused face]
Replaced my cam follower. Repaired HPFP shaft(levelled the wear a bit do the tip is as smooth and flat as OEM), drained/changed oil (millers XF 5w30), replaced N75, replaced pCV breather hose, inspected/cleaned PCV valve assembly... Still have problems with power/boost cut off at full throttle. It's all very well at normal driving. But if I put my foot down, after about 4-5 sec it dropes pressure(according to boost gauge) to 14-15 than 10-11 than 6-8. Fluctuating. Feels like hitting a wall.. No RPM past 2000-2500. Than if I let go and wait 10-15 sec it comes back normal I can even peak at 19psi on half throttle... Idle is normal. No smoke. No cel. Can't find any codes. My Next step is to check N249... But I am really puzzled. Is this realy because of failed cam follower and wear tho internals as well as cam shaft.?( inspected both and no wear on HPFP and very very minimal on cam. Barely visible..) ANY IDEAS? I really don't wanna take her to Garage! Will try take a vid of fluctuations. Ps. I have searched and searched. All forums!!! There is a ton of info but I seems nothing has worked for me yet!

Finaly found a code: P2293 fuel press regulator 2 perf. Is this a fuel pressure sensor?

How did you fit that piece on the top left of the engine bay? I have that too but couldn't figure out how to hold it to anything. Its usually for the 3.2 engines but there is nothing to hold it with our 2.0's

If you mean the piece over the ac-piping I just glued it with some silicone to the airfilter-box.

Its really not that hard, just time consuming. If I can do it, anyone can. Funny thing is, that triple square set probably cost around $80 bucks and you only need one for one bolt in this job iirc.

Ah yes, but everyone should already have one of those, if they have a banjo bolt that is.

Yeah, its really not that hard. The hardest part is getting it all back together correctly the first time. Haha. Martin and I did it twice, lol. Forgot one intake flap. But we had it apart and back together again within an hour I think the second time.

Slightly quicker turbo spool, slightly more turbo noise, less heat soak, and a better running car.

Gave the girl her every 3 day hand-wash last night. This thing gets pampered. Also last night, I corrected the trunk lid and hood with the PC7424, a variety of Lake Country pads, Menzerna IP and Menzerna FP, then gave those portions of the car a wax with Pinnacle Souveran. I'll do more panels next week. I'm too lazy/busy to do it all in one shot.

Sent from my porcelain throne.

Ive checked and double checked. nothing is. The odd thing is that each time I scan it the fault codes change for what is and isnt plugged in. The last time it started up it felt like a blown coil pack biut i dont think it is. because once its on its completely fine. Im stumped and i think I've exhausted all of my possibilites of it being a free fix and now im going to have to start replacing things as to what I dont know.

To add insult to injury My hood strut gave out lol will it ever end.

man that sucks. I hate when a maintenance issue goes awry. Makes you never want to work on your car again, and it feels like the car is doing it to you on purpose.

Did you reconnect the flapper motor? What about the intake air temp sensor? Throttle body? Cam position sensor? Double check it all!

Swapped my dome lights from the ones with 8 led's (right) to the ones with 3 led's (left). Reason was because the 8 led's did not have a resistor built in, and would stay on about 5-10% while driving at night, when they should be totally off. Might need to get some ones with more led's because these are significantly less bright.

Removed all four door trims, tightened all screws. Reduced my rattles in the car by 95%. Easier to remove than I thought. Didn't even need the bone tool. Started pulling out from the "forward" (or front of the car) part of each door trim, and carefully pulled out. Free. Winning!

Replaced spark plugs with BKR6E-11s. Removed the stockers which were quite tired looking. No4 plug and coil pack (at the bottom) had surface rust on it so think someone must've gotten too crazy with a power washer at some point. Didn't see any evidence of water getting down to the actual plug area, just in the tube.

Debadged the rear...looks SOO much nicer!

So I pulled the 1 & 2 plugs a couple weeks ago to check them and had some oil(?) on the top of and around the connector for the No2 coil plug. I wiped it down and just chalked it up to someone being overzealous when adding oil since it's right next to the oil cap. Well there was some again today when I pulled it to do the plugs. An ideas what is happening? Pic is the bottom of the coil pack connector.

Oh, and took it for my first real drive on some twisties up thru Ramona and along Old Julian Hwy to Santa Ysabel and back. Damn this car is a blast to drive and it's stock! Can't wait til I have a tune and some suspension. [:D]

Does it just make it shinier, or does it act as a "clear coat"?

Ordered a new hood strut from europa today.

Will probably order a new down pipe in the next few days and finally get my HFC in. Than in the next month ill get a new fuel pump may wait till Waterfest as APR had a pretty good deal then and i can get tuned for it all in one shot. That will probably be if for power mods as i only really plan on keeping the car another year max.

Installed a poly B8S4 style bumper (haven't seen it really anywhere yet?), simple install, not fiber glass, first time taking the bumper off, easier than I thought it would be. Could probably get the passenger side between the grille and headlight to line up a little better but got tired of tinkering for hours and had to get the car back together! Truck status so scheduled for springs.

I agreed at first, kind of eh about it at least. Looks drastically better with the emblem, kind of 300 looking without it. Didn't look great at all at truck height, almost like a Q4, I think a chrome bordered grille like the OEM one will make it look less standoffish, don't think I'll go all the way to the B8 style headlight conversion

Why are people masking up the chrome pieces just to wax their cars?

The things i taped werent chrome! My window trim is wrapped and i didnt know how the stuff i used would interact with the wrap! but my grille i tapped off because its plastidipped and once the wax gets on the plastidip you arent gonna get it off with out peeling everything off

Lets see, over the past week I have done a couple small things and an oil change.

Finally removed the bumper to paint my grill, used satin black paint by SEM instead of the usual plasti-dip route. Wanted to see how this looked/held up before I tried plasti-dip. Was actually intimidated to removed the bumper but turned out to be really easy and took me about 20 minutes to get it off and maybe 10 to get it back on. Going to clear the corners soon, just want to do it right and need to go pick up a heat gun and order some of the clear replacement lenses. Not sure if those are for sale yet but I saw a thread about them a while ago and I believe it said they were going to be offered soon. Also want to order some regular bulbs and take out this ricer DDM hid kit crap. I'll get xenons eventually but for now just going to stick with these.

Yes she needs a wash, supposed to rain today and want to let the paint settle for a while before I go scrubbing the car down.

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i174/MuscleOwnzRice/Audi%20A4%20B7/PaintedGrill_zpsd8b41126.jpg

Then went ahead and polished the exhaust, its the stock one but had massive build up. Just used some fine wet sandpaper, never dull, chemical guys wheel guard, and some elbow grease. Used some steel wool but it isn't nearly as effective as wet sanding (obviously) but probably isn't necessary if you keep your exhaust clean. It was that bad when I bought it and had tried a few things before and had given up. Now I know what to use at least.

Got my 4" exhaust tips in the mail yesterday, installed them first thing today. Overall, I have to say I'm extremely pleased with them (for $60 shipped). Freshen up the look of the back end, and they actually quiet down the exhaust noise which I found weird but not complaining. Probably because of the gap between the clamps

Thanks! :)

Here's the link to the ones I got. Did some extensive searching and I think these were the best (remember though, my searching also involved items that had to be able to ship to Canada, and a lot of them didn't)

Did you have to weld or do any custom work? Or just bolts on?

Protect starter, alternator with plastic bag. Shoot degreaser and let it do its job for 5 mins. Spray wuith pressure washer, avoid coilpacks. Wipe down. Shines with trim shine product of your choice.

Just bolt on, best part about them. The stock stainless steel mufflers were pretty tough to get off. I went through 7 Dremel cutting bits lol. I should have just bought a grinder. If you have one, it'll make life 100x easier and quicker

Wait so you cut the stock tips off then just bolted these on? Got any more pics? I'm going to get an exhaust here soon enough but would consider these for the time being.

Yes sir. I took a grinder to the exhaust... I left about 2 inches of exhaust pipe from the muffler. Here's a quick pic for reference I just took... the new ones bolt right one. 3 bolts, very simple job. The stock exhaust is tough shit, I suggest borrowing a grinder if you don't have one. Going to work with a Dremel was a little Mickey Mouse on my part. A 10min job took about an hour

Thanks for the compliments guys, I smell a lot of 4" exhaust tips popping up in the future [up]

What was wrong with the LED's? I was thinking of going LED!

Recently had a DRL go out and threw in some 1156's since they're cheap and didn't have the LED stuff on order yet. Interesting...the 1156's lasted a couple of weeks and burned out. I was a little annoyed thinking I got ripped off with some cheapo bulbs. For some odd reason I took a quick look in the catalog and noticed DRL's are supposed to be 7506's (21w), not 1156's (28w). The socket didn't like the higher wattage bulb....got nice and toasted, just glad it still works.

Not at all. I was running the LEDs for awhile. You are supposed to be running 7506(21w), I found a set of 1156(21w) in yellow which is what I wanted. I paid $16 something shipped and I will see how long they last.
