Anyone have a hot tip on what I could use to get the radio out other than the audi tool?

If you want to remove it without destroying anything in the process, just get the tool. They aren't expensive. Or see if a local car audio place can pop it out for you.

Audi is closed today, CD error 3 and I can't F'n stand the radio or sat. If I here moves like Jager one more time someones gonna get hurt :) Gonna try grinding down an old kitchen knife to the right width.

did you try the classical station or turning the player off and just listening to the sweet sound of your V8. the plastic face on the stereo is extremely fragile be very very careful with it, and you would need to grind down at least 2 kitchen knifes possible 4 depending on how much of a PITA its being.

I cut down a hacksaw blade. It worked well.

I cut down some strips of aluminum and slid all 4 into the slots, the stereo didn't budge, it looks like the factory tool has some little notches though, did you cut those into your hacksaw blade?

I went to Best Buy. Just drove right up to the bay where they do the audio work for the cars right when they opened up one morning and the guy had popped my radio out for me for free but I threw him 20$ for lunch.
