so ive been putting some thought into how i could quiet down my highway drives a little bit. how many of you guys are using something along these lines (http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_S4--2.7T/Search/Sound/)? seems a little too thin to actually make a difference. and how would this stuff compare to some sort of foam that i can pickup at lowes or something? im thinking about gutting the interior and going all out. door panels, floor, roof, trunk, ect... im looking for dead... ass... silence... lol. help me out guys.

I used the Edead 45 on a Tacoma, tore all panels out (doors headliner floor, everything) and covered it all with 1 layer of the edead. That truck was super quite inside. rolls on nice too, but does add weight.

Looking to do the same thing to my car.... Found a couple interesting reads along the way. I plan to start in the trunk with some products from here:

Not an Audi, but this fella put alot of time and money into his truck. If I had an extra grand or two and a few weeks of free time I might do it too...

wow... that guy went all out. id like to stay under 20-30 pounds. 30 being the absolute MAX.
any idea on what that roll weighs?
I think I had 120 SF and it was 40 LBS IIRC, email them they will let you know.
here is an amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Elemental-Designs-eDead-Sound-Deadening/dp/B0007P71KK
It is really flexible, sticky on one side and not on the other, cut, pull film off and roll on. I think 120 was 4 rolls, 1 had 1 roll left over and did double layers on a few areas in the truck near speakers, etc.

EDIT: 0.28LBS per Sf

Walmart used to sell "roadkill". Its a cheaper dynamat type tar sheeting that works well. Not sure if they still have it. I've seen it with the car audio stuff.

alright, nice. seems pretty reasonably priced too compared to others. any experience with this vs dynamat or boom mat?

not sure if its the same type but Ive had this stuff in my 68 mustang called lizard-skin somewhat similar i think, no smells at all but it kills the sound pretty good next almost no weight added. Check it out If you'd consider that route.

Back when I built my FFR, I lined the entire cockpit with FatMat (http://fatmat.com/). The stuff worked awesome, easy to use and priced well. Without it, the car sounded like a tin can driving down the road. If I were to compare it to something, I'd say its similar to electrical tape only 1/16"-1/8" thick. This is almost the exact same stuff as dynomat only a fair amount cheaper. It does weigh a bit though. Not a big deal on my FFR cause it only weighs 2260lbs anyway, lol.
Also, The headers are about 2" from the bootboxes on the FFR so I applied 2 layers of the stuff in the footboxes and it keeps the heat out very well. I also lined the entire engine compartment of my boat with the stuff and now I can barely hear the engine running. Its great.

I've got a whole roll of RaamMat BXT 60 or something like that. I bought it off a forum a year ago and was going to do the Odyssey with it but it was too big a project to tackle and life got in the way. Let me know if anyone is interested. I paid $96 for it.

I used V3 eDead on my wife's Mazda (Trunk only). Noticeable difference and the stuff is not that heavy.
