From your list of features I'm puzzled by a bit:

Heated washer

Headlight cleaners

I thought the 2010 Audis had no headlamp washers. Am I missing something? What are these two referring to?

thanks!

Other than that, nice :D

What's a fair price for 3M Clear Bra install for the bumper, 1/3 of the hood, the wing mirrors and top of the rear bumper below the trunk lip? I'm in the South Jersey/Philly Area and I am going to get a quote on Saturday. Just want to get an idea of a fair price. Cheers.

DetailersDomain
09-10-2009, 01:13 PM
there are so many variables not everyone will quote the same thing.

are you looking at pre cut or custom?

On this S4 we would quote it out at $1300 with 3m PPF.

With other films it would probably be a bit less.

How easy is it to see the line where the film ends? I too want to get this done and am also in Jersey but don't think I would spend $1300 if I will be able to see a line across my hood forever. That would drive me nuts

It looks like the polish actually reduced the peel by about 50%. Was the polish for paint flatening, or just a light polish for shine?

Kendall

I think you forgot to use the wax polish. Wax surely brings out the shine. It will change the entire look of the body.

A few good products you can use for maintain the leather.

einszett Leathercare (http://www.detailersdomain.com/1zeinszett-leathercare.aspx) is an all in one product super easy to use.

if you need something stronger you can use

Leather Master Strong Cleaner (http://www.detailersdomain.com/leathermaster-strongcleanerleathercleaner.aspx) followed by Leather Master Vital Conditioner. (http://www.detailersdomain.com/leathermaster-vitalleatherconditioner.aspx)

Well I'm starting to personalize the Audi a bit.

First up on the mods Bilstein PSS10's

I was pretty skeptical at first as I had PSS9's on my 03 Audi RS6 I would have probably preferred KW's on that one, took the leap on the PSS10's and have to say I'm extremely happy with the decision to go with the PSS10's on the B8 S4.

Take a look.

The PSS10's:

After a few miles the car settled and we had to adjust it a few times to get it right, I experienced some rubbing with 3 in the car so we raised it and took the front wheel liner bolt off.

After shot with final adjustments and Menzerna Power Lock (http://www.detailersdomain.com/menzerna-powerlock-polymersealant.aspx)

Stealing your post with my wheel [cool]. You should get a S4 badge for the wheel as well.

BTW, what settings do you have on your PSS10? I am riding F: 8 and R: 6.

The dial is a huge improvement over the PSS9's

The fronts are in (just about)

After a few miles the car settled and we had to adjust it a few times to get it right, I experienced some rubbing with 3 in the car so we raised it and took the front wheel liner bolt off.

After shot with final adjustments and Menzerna Power Lock (http://www.detailersdomain.com/menzerna-powerlock-polymersealant.aspx)

ok some updates.

the co's are now on 6 all around. the car was dropped a bit more.

the spacers are off as I was rubbing. (the wheel well screw was removed)

not sure how some are running et32 on a lowered car without rubbing, unless I'm either driving hard or the roads around me suck (I would say the later)

were you rubbing in the front or rear? et 32 for the rears should be fine even when lowered but the front should probably be around et35. assume you're running 255?

the lm-r's are et38.

I'm rubbing everywhere. lol and with 5mm spacers its et33.

yup 255's but the ultrac's run wider.

I'm rubbing on dips in the rear. I should not rub when all the spacers are off.

sorry to hear. my car sits pretty low with the Stasis springs - about a 1.6" drop. no rubbing with 19 x 9 et43 with 255 tires (used to rub with the liner bolt in place). I was thinking of going with 265 tires which will have the effect of running et38 but am a little gun shy spending 1500 on tires only to find out later that they rub. i'll try running 5mm spacers first and see how that works.

anyway front spacers are off, fender fixed, co's are raised a bit.

et38 is great for the front on 255s. The rears should be able to handle the 5mm spacer.

I noticed this immediately also. Needs the old shift boot to match those seats. The stitching on the steering wheel and shift boot in this car totally sets it off IMO. Porsche style with the deviated stitching.. love it.

Not sure if you'd be happy if i ask about detailing in your car modding thread, but I saw those pics of cars being power locked so I guess you carelessly gave me a permission lol.

Anyway, Phil, i was using Flex that I got from you today to power lock my car, and the sun just set that suddenly, and I don't have a garage, so I got tempted to finish the job real quick as there were tons of mosquitos biting me. So I wasn't very patient and careful with some area, and I think I might have not done it right on the other area as this was my first time with Flex and power lock. I was wondering if I should keep moving the polisher at one area until all the power lock hazes or should I just cover the area once and proceed to next area? It was very dark and I couldn't be sure if the sealant actually hazed... And for those area that I was not careful with, I simply drove the polisher by for once and didn't move it back and forth. Which way is the right way to do it?

btw, did a quick rinse later tonight after a high way drive, and it was amazing how these sealant can do the job, i didn't wipe it over after rinse and just drove away, while waters just bead up and flew away as speed built up. By the time i got home from carwash, the car was pretty much waterless :p

power lock is great i'm glad you had a good experience with, many many other have as well including myself.

application, you can apply with the flex at speed 2-3 with a uber black pad, all you need is to do one pass on the panel no need to work it into the paint like a compound or polish as its a sealant.

apply with the machine should take 10-20 minutes on a flex (depending on size of the car) let it haze then remove with a clean microfiber towel.

hope that helps.

Pretty fancy stuff for a winter setup. Both wheels will clear the BBK without spacers?

DetailersDomain

Not sure about the CH-R's but if I did them I would probably run 5mm spacers.

Again more than likely I'll run the CX-R's. I was thinking pick up LM's for winters but they won't clear the brakes. ; )

For the stock 19's. Is that a dedicated winter tire, or do they have a good all-season option? I'm south of you in DC and an all-season has been more than enough for me even during the snowmaggedon last year.

Phil, since I live in WI my last 2 Audi's always get a ring of white "salt dust" around the floor mats that I can never get out with shampoo or scrubbing. Is there a good product I can buy or technique to remove a winter's worth of road salt from black carpet? I'd rather be proactive with the S4 than wait and have to be reactive [:(]

Nice wheel set up! Can you take some pics of the Spirit Booster in the car too. Or a mini walk through of the set up. How hard was it to install?

DetailersDomain
12-07-2010, 07:31 AM
sure thing no problem.

the sprint booster it take about 10-15 minutes to install including the fact that they want you to leave the door open for 5 minutes before you install it.

you really won't be able to see it because its behind the bottom cover by the gas pedal.

but in short you take the connector off the gas pedal and add the sprint booster to it.

if you can plug a cord into the wall you should be able to do the Sprint Booster install :)

Phil did you replace the rear pads/rotors as well? I dunno about you, but after I had the front BBK installed, the stock rear brakes dusted much more than the front. I replaced the rears with matching slotted rotors and PosiQuiet pads and now my wheels stay clean much longer![up]

You might consider asking the guys over at StopTech what pads they recommend because I specifically remember them telling me that the semi-metallic compound of the Posi-Quiet rears matched the front kit I bought to provide consistent brake feel/balance.
