Plasti Dip....

Alright I finally grabbed some black plasti dip from home depot..

I'm planning on doing my chrome grill trims and maybe my rings..

But I was thinking. Could I use it on my wheels as well?

Or is it not strong enough? I'm really not even sure what the stuff is/looks like, I've just heard people say it's the best spray for the grill.

with the spray paints... it was in the top right corner at mine.

and yeah, how did those hold up? and how many cans do you think I'd need for the wheels and the grills?

I only got 1 and I have a feeling that won't be enough.

do NOT plasti dip your wheels, that shit will peel off real fast. use dupli color, its incredibly durable. i used it and i have cleaned my wheels with some really harsh wheel cleaner products. i have been taking my car to the mountain as well and the paint has held up well for 6 months now.

dupli color and a clear coat will give you a durable good looking wheel. do it nice or do it twice.

Plasti-Dip isn't very durable. I have it on my trim price on the rear bumper painted in Plasti-Dip and it's easily scratched.

Perfect advice! that is the exact paint and clear I used on my wheels and for about 9k miles no difference in fade or wear. Four cans of paint will more then cover all your wheels inside and out and the grill with some left over. I would say 2 cans of clear will do the trick. It is the only paint I will ever use again and any future wheels.

Great way to spend an evening sucking paint fumes and drinking some beer with buddies.

the actual product is called "dupli color wheel paint" and clear coat is never NECESSARY but if you dont want to recoat every few months do it.. well worth it and isnt expensive. and one can of plasti dip will be enough for the grille trim black out. i suggest you do the whole thing because the "black" of the grille looks dark grey compared to the black of the plasti dip.

when i painted my last rs4 grill (before i wrecked my car) haha i painted the entire thing... looked way better imo and stood out more. the inner part is more of a matte black. but i used auto paint and clear.. this time ima try the plasti dip

Plasti-dip it...if you don't like it later on you can just peel the whole thing off. Also if you get small chips here and there, it's really easy to touch up. I probably wouldn't use it on my wheels though.

I hear from others on here that the plastic dip fads pretty bad so long run it may not work so well. They actually make a "trim paint" it looks good to, my buddy used it on his grill I would suggest primer and then the paint, it might help against rock chips perhaps.

They also carry a duplicolor matte clear coat (non glossy) that I would recommend putting OVER the plastidip. will increase the durability on it, or else I guarantee you it will peel after a few months. Mine did after 3 months so I redid it with plastidip and a matte clear coat.

Plastidip will work on the grill surround but if you don't prep it right expect to be re-doing it in a couple months.

As for the wheels they should either be painted or powdercoated to hold up properly. Either way the proper prep will be worth the time and expense.

I wouldn't plasti dip my wheels if I were you. It works great on the grills though; I did it yesterday.

If you want your wheels painted, go with powder coating them. It'll cost you $50-$100 (depending on the place that does it) a wheel, but it will hold up much better, and look a hell of a lot better.
