Is the S5 Convertible really an S4?

Some prefer the styling of the S5 over the S4, it is all a matter of personal preference.

I wouldn't say it's an S4...
It's got the same engine but besides that nothing is the same.
The S5 Cab is much "fatter" of a car.
Love the styling of the S5 Coupe / Cab.
S4 well it's nice but not really that different look wise then a A4...

Nope. It's a B8.

At least as far as the internals go, the S5 Cabriolet has a lot more in common with the S4 than it does with the S5 Coupe.

I guess I'm just tired of all those V8 guys on the S5 boards bad mouthing this amazing V6T and S-tronic combo.

test drove both an S4 coupe and an S5 cab today while my A5 was being worked on...

The S5 cab has definately got the powertrain of an S4... but interior/body of an S5. Its wider, lower, and has the more aggressive fascia of the S5. The rear seat in the S5 cab is about 6-8 inches narrower than the S5 coupe. It also has the rediculously tiny leg room of the S5. The S4 coupe has way more leg room in the back.

Handling wise I like the S5 cab better felt like it hugged the turns more, speed/power wise the S4 coupe is better it felt much lighter and faster in the acceleration. Both cars had the ADS option in dynamic mode if anyone cares.

Awesome. Good to hear from someone that has driven them both. The S4 is about 400 pounds lighter? I am amazed by the S5 Cab's handling. I really must say I wasn't expecting this coming in. The 335cic I had was a total pig in comparison. The S5 cab feels like a go-kart.

Id take that over a B6 A4 any day of the week - no matter how fast your car is.
