Aftermarket amp to stock speakers

So I have the audio issues where the volume goes in and out. The car has the Bose system and we already put a new head-unit in and it still does it. Instead of buying a used bose amp that might do the same thing, Im thinking Ill just replace it with an aftermarket five channel.

I have two questions...

1. Do I HAVE to run new speaker wire or can I tap in into the speaker outputs on the harness from the BOSE amp. I have seen the diagram on here numerous times and would just use that. I just want to avoid running new speaker wires.

2. Any issues hooking the factory sub up to the aftermarket amp. My friend in the audio business said something about the factory speakers not being 4ohm.

FYI, I was thinking about getting the Alpine PDX5 on the stock speakers just for now until I can afford to upgrade them to other components.

I cant say on the resistance of any of the speakers or subwoofer but i assume that would cause you some hardship but you could use the stock wires. Just look up the resistance and find a comparable amp. Most big brands make a 5-channel now. I like hifonics for the money.

There was a TSB on that problem. I had the same issue which was resolved with the TSB.

Factory Bose is not 4 ohm. In fact, some of their stuff is less than 1 ohm. If you're dumping the Bose, I'd suggest replacing everything.

A plethora of bad ideas...

Thankfully you're asking for advise before you start [up] I'll hit the high points.

1. The bose speakers in your car are 2ohm, and have very low power handling...pretty much any amp you buy made in the last 2 decades will have too much power for them and you'll most likely blow them rather quickly.

2. I would run new speaker wires if you choose to use an aftermarket amp...when you see the relative size/gauge of the OEM wiring, you'll understand.

3. don't run an aftermarket amp to your bose sub (see #1), and don't run your bose amp to an aftermarket sub.

4.You're on the right track with going all aftermarket...new speakers/amp/wiring/sub...dunzo.
