I got the s-tronic because the dual clutch systems in the GTI and M3 are faster than stick. Obviously, I really never want another torque converter unless its the only transmission available for the car. I feel with some modifications to the transmission it would be faster than the stick. They claim that the stick is faster, but that is due to the s-tronic's 7 gears. If the transmission would shift faster with software tuning, or even change gear ratio's, chances are I could beat it. I don't disagree with the idea though, I love stick and when I was looking at the 335xi vs the s4, I was going to only take the 335xi with a stick.. but dual clutch is newer technology and truthfully I love it.

I had 5% on my A4. It was the best tint I ever had (I went from 40% to 5% to 30% (after pulled for tint twice) to 30/20% to 20% to 15%). It's kind of sad how many times I changed tint on one car, but this time I'm leaving whatever I get no matter what problems it brings. Definitely love the dark look.

Don allen are pretty good guys to work with. I'm in PA and have never had problems with my 32% tint all around. I wish I would have went darker though. I think you should stay away from 5% because it's always noticeably dark. Go with 15-25% IMO.

I was thinking 13% from Sunsational in Bridgeport. I don't think I will get bothered with it. I didn't get bothered for over 2 years with 5% until a cop in Blue Bell pulled me, and a week later in Lafayette Hill, so I got it lightened.

I'd get 10% rear and 35% front. The difference might just be enough to make the cops think there's nothing, but still darker than none.

I had 30% front, and I hated it. I love the look of dark windows. I lived in Philadelphia so I never got bothered for 5%, even at 4 a.m. when I was the only car on the road. Its the cops in the suburbs, and luckily I got to move to Montgomery County [>_>]. I might go with 13% all around and just put the front windows down anywhere risky,

I like tint to look close to factory. Just enough that you can tell it is tinted.

Factory is 70%. If you wanted really light tint, 40% or 50% is it. I definitely want to go dark, I would love to go black but I don't feel like getting a ticket every month.

70? didn't know that. I might go 40, it must compound with the 70 to come out as 35ish?

Yeah, I think around 20% is good. I've had 5% too and loved it. Windows up at night, no one can see inside, especially good if you have a "friend" in the car, lol.

BTW, beautiful car, wish I could afford one of those.

I went with a 60% ceramic all the way around. Not even a second glance from the fuzz, plus it looks darker than it actually is with the light exterior and the black interior.

yeah, Huper Optik is a little misleading...people think mine is darker than it actually is. I've heard it's about a 5% difference

40 looks more like 35.

For the Alcantara I usually just vacuum it, brush lightly (but you need a really soft brush that won't damage the alcantara), and a damp microfiber towel, but you must not get the alcantara wet with it. If you do get the alcantara wet I heard to blot as much as you can and pour baby powder onto the spot to keep it soft. There's also Swissvax Alcantara cleaner, but I have yet to look into it.

Audi Drive Select
Driver Assist Package
Sports Rear Differential
Carbon Atlas Decorative Inlays

Your car is almost identicle to what I've just ordered. I went for the black optic which I dont think was an option when you got yours. Also I think the Drive select was on a package deal with including the sports diff, the adj. dampers and the steering. They have split this up now and it costs a small fortune to get the full package so I have gone for the Drive select with the adj dampers only......somthing had to give.

Other than that, yes, I went for the roof, the carbon, the super sports alcantara, and the same wheels. Dis you go for the HDD Sat Nav? Other than that I think the cars are exactly the same!!

The black optic package wasn't available for me [:(]. The car will be amazing whether or not you have the Drive Select, so don't worry. I bought the prestige model, so I wasn't offered any navigation option, so I think I have the HDD Sat Nav. You'll love your car. [up]

you can get dark tint i had 5% on my a4 when/if you get pulled over just roll down all windows and keep hands on wheel untill the cop comes to the window it will show respect to him the only reason why tint on front window became outlawed is because a state trooper pulled a guy over and when he got to the window they were tinted and the guy shot him threw the window

I had 5% on my A4 for 2 years and didn't get bothered until I moved to the suburbs where I got pulled twice within 2 weeks and got a ticket (I was pulled in Philly 2x with 5% for speeding and 1x for expired inspection and they never bothered me about it). I always put all my windows down when I got pulled. The other two times I put my windows down but the cops were pulling me over for tint so no chance there. I think they need to revise the law just because one incident doesn't account for everybody. They could allow at least 20-30% all windows or change the law so that if you have tint and weather permits you put all your windows down, and at night just turn the interior lights on. But whatever, I'm actually planning to move back into the city so I will definitely change it to 5% once I do.

Well some of those photos are iPhone 3GS but I will post some iPhone 4 pics below.

I took mine to a cheap shop nearby and paid about $150 for a 2.5 hour job. It was definitely worth it considering the other quotes I received. I attempted to do it myself but I didn't want to risk it after a certain point bc I didn't want to break anything taking the bumper off. The dealership might rip you off considering they overcharge on everything half the time.

What kind of shop did you go? Is it Audi special shop or any general shop? I got an APR authorised installer here who is "the best" as suggested by other Audi owners around, who messed up my SSK install...

I love the fog lights.

I went to an auto-collision shop that did not specialize in Audi. I had problems with my APR mods so I really don't intend on going back. I would just call a few shops or drive by a few and see what prices they come up with. I would also bring instructions just to make sure they know exactly what they're doing just incase they aren't specialized in Audi. My guys did an amazing job and the dealer inspected it and said it was quality work.

I have to decide to do it myself, it looks like.

Do you think it can be done without removing front wheels?

Yea I had to spend a few days to find the shop since every shop I went to was backed up a week. I attempted to do it without removing the wheels but you need to make sure you have the tools to get down in there and unscrew the tricky screws.. I couldn't get to 2 screws so I ended up quitting and just taking it to the shop.. it doesn't seem too bad tho once you have the right tools. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks a lot for the guide link and tips phantom, I just took the grill and bumper off and put the bumper back on, and now there is just a big black whole there.

If it wasn't 8pm when it's getting dark and all those mosquitos biting me, i'd say this is a somewhat job that makes you feel good, i.e., it takes time and seems to be complicated, but not, actually, so you feel good when you are done and don't feel hurt in the butt hahaha. Anyway, I did lost a bolt as it was dark outside, which holds the bumper in place from underneath the headlight assembly. You know, that bolt you have to reach behind the wheel liner. I guess I'll have to ask dealer about it and see if they can match one for me. Is this bolt what you were talking about that you couldn't reach?

No problem.. I figured it wouldn't be too bad but my luck something would go wrong and i'd be screwed with no bumper on my car lol.. mosquitos are a pain around here too.. I got about 20 bites on my legs just by going into the woods to get my golf ball yesterday.. I definitely get what you mean because my friend had to take off his front bumper and it wasn't much of a problem. That's another one of my problems.. I always drop a bolt and have to end up taking that whole bottom skid plate off.. I think that might be the bolt.. but I didn't take any wheels off or anything, I just reached down from the front of the car.. If a RS5 grill becomes available for our cars I might get it so I'll definitely do it myself this time.

Ye, I saw the picture of that RS5 grill, and it looked amazing to me. Your car probably will be another model car for my decision on the RS5 grill, haha. Good luck on that man.

I just thought I would let people know I ordered yellow Hoen H11 High Endurance fogs, interior LEDs from SuperBrightLEDS.com, and am working on picking LEDs for the license plate.. I will post pictures of all the mods once installed. (I'm also working on getting a SLR camera so I can actually take quality pictures.

How did you figure out which LEDs to order for the interior? I want to replace my interior lights and I have seen lots of options but SuperBrightLEDS.com looks like the best deal. I just don't know what to buy.

Did you install them yourself too?

I found a thread that told me which LED lights to order: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/282731-LED-Interior-Bulbs-swap-info-details...

I used his selection of lights and they work/look great. I ordered the same lights for underneath my doors but I'm going to be ordering PySpeed Comfort LEDs for under the doors since the LEDs I ordered from super bright don't seem to be as bright but all of the interior ones are very bright and cause my cabin to turn into an investigation room at night. Basically takes my 13% tint and makes it look like I have none with them all on. I installed them myself.. all you really need is a flat head screwdriver and pop each light housing out. Just make sure you're careful as some have clips to hold them in (I broke a clip and had to tape one of my mirror light LEDs back in). Let me know what you decide to do and if you need anymore help let me know.

S4Phantom- you should black out the silver rings around the fogs to complete the black front end

Thanks, I actually like how the tint looks during the day. You can see through the car but you can only see a shadow of a person.. if it's cloudy you really can't see in though. Either way I enjoy the privacy.

I was actually planning on purchasing the OSIR carbon fiber fog light housings. I think they would look good with the carbon fiber splitter. I also just purchased a carbon fiber rear valence and should be expecting it sometime this week.

Bought a 2012 S4 S-tronic in white/black with sport diff last month. Best car I have ever owned (I've driven BMW's for 20 years). Here's my question for you: I have mostly been driven in Sport mode and having been playing around with the shift paddles. I notice that when the car is shifting itself, it keeps the revs pretty low. WHen I go into manual shift mode I tend to run the revs much higher. What's your experience with the best approach to shifting the 7-speed?

Well first off I'd say coming to Audi from BMW is a great upgrade considering the cars they offer competing with S4 price and quality aren't as good. I actually looked into selling my S4 for a new 335is but it wasn't anything special at $70,000 so I figure I'll wait for a 2013 S4 or S5. At first I drove it in comfort for mpg but have switched to the dynamic side. I have ADS so I'm not sure but I think your sport is just the dynamic mode for transmission, engine, and sport differential. I prefer to shift myself since the car shifts lower rpm.. For general driving I would suggest driving in normal drive or shifting at 3,000-4,000 rpm. Sometimes I shift at 3-3,500 rpm while giving a good amount of gas and the car still accelerates pretty good. If you want to enjoy the s-tronic/sport mode then you should stick to paddles and shifting up around 4,000 rpm. Just be warned that you must downshift or the car will possibly stall for a few seconds. I have forgotten to downshift at lights or other slow areas sometimes and my car will stall for a good 5 seconds before re-engaging the clutch. It really depends what rpm makes you happiest and whether or not your driving casual or trying to be a speed demon. I'm sorry if this didn't help much.
