I see that K&N has came out with a filter for the S4 but I am wondering if I should go ahead and get it or just wait until an air induction kit is offered. Will the K&N give an noticable performance or mpg over the stock filter? I have one in my truck but never really noticed any difference. Did not know if it would make much difference with the super charger.

I've read several times on here, that they only give 1 HP if that, and are better left stock, because apparently the K&N filter does not filter as well

I think K&N filters fine, it's just that they sometimes come with too much oil which can then end up messing with our MAF sensor. So you have to basically clean it off and re-apply the appropriate amount. However, any performance difference certainly will be negligible and it probably won't filter any better than the stock. More than likely, all it will do is give you a slightly different exhaust note.

they usually do not provide any performance gain you can feel, but I know for example on turbo cars it increase the intake sound and you can def. here the turbo more.

If your car is highly modded than a K&N will help your performance a little but if you are stock or just chipped than the stock filter is more than sufficient. The stock filter is probably better because like others have said filters better and less chance of screwing up your MAF. I would probably only use a K&N filter is when your car is highly modded and you need to go cold air intake.

The intake system before the air filter in S4 B8 is cleverly developed, well-built and IS actually a cold air intake.
