Just bought a 02 Audi a4. Had to wait a week because the dealer had to install a new head unit since the radio would turn on but no sound would come out until like 20 min into my drive. So new head unit everything is great. Not so fast i stop to get gas and same thing no sound for like 20 min. Is this the amp going out? sorry for the question I read a few articals pertaining to same thing but i never really got the answer i was looking for. Sorry for dumb question just new to audi world.

If you're getting sound for 20 minutes then it comes back it might be a radio issue. The radio could be overheating or something might not be wired up right as well. You're getting no sound out of all the speakers??

When I first start the car in the morning there is no sound. After driving for a while usually 20 min I get sound and its fine until i shut the car off. Sometimes its only like 5 min before I hear something but Iv had it where I just drive for an hour and nothing comes out of speakers. Like I said they already put a new Radio in it so I cant see it being that. IDK makes me angry though.

Just take it back to them and have them replace the amp. They replaced the HU and it didnt do anything really so its on to the next possible option.

If I was a betting man, I would bet that one or more of your speakers is grounding out on metal and shorting out the head unit, it wont be enough to blow the fuse, but it will stop all sounds comeing out of the radio, have the dealer pull the head unit and do a tone signal on all your speakers and one of them will most likely be shorting out.
I doubt its an amp issue, try this first.
