Did anyone else have low volume issues with the dice integration kit using an iPod/iPhone? When I switch to radio, the sound quality and volume are better. The manual says there is a gain switch but it's for the aux. Will adjusting this help?

ASpec818, did you find a solution to your volume issue with the i-Audi-R unit?

Just had one installed in my Symphony II, iPod volume can be 8-10 points lower than CD volume, plus the sound is a bit flat and tinny. Same with iPhone.

Sound shop swapped all components (unit, T-harness, iPod cable), no change in symptoms. Dice says that both of the units must be bad, but I'm thinking that is BS.

PS. Adjusting the gain only affects Aux input, not iPod input.

not really... the radio sounds much better than my mp3's. bass is more boomy and highs are a little more clearer in the radio function

Disappointing, heard many good things about this unit before purchase.

Will continue troubleshooting...

Problem solved!

Our 2004 Allroad has an XM receiver. When you unplug it (in the trunk area), the sound coming from the Dice is noticeably better. Louder, clearer, better bass. Sounds better than CD.

Our installer made sure to let Dice know about this solution, hopefully it will prevent headaches for others.

Good to know, thanks for the update.

Hey did any of you guys have problems with your DICE when you tried the AUX?

I installed the same DICE in my '06 A4 2 weeks ago and it was working fine, then i plugged in the AUX today to my iphone just to see if it would work which it did fine. But when I removed the AUX and went back to normal plug in for the iphone everything went haywire and now my system won't recognize steering wheel controls (changing tracks) and the timer for each song either continues to go forever or not change at all. Plus the radio is making clicking noises.

I don't get how plugging in the AUX could have caused this but its all screwed up now. You guys do anything special when you plug in the AUX? I am wondering if it's not grounded well, what did you guys ground to?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Have never tried the AUX port. However:

Sounds like your unit is acting buggy. Did you try resetting it by unplugging it from the T-harness for a minute or two? Dice tech support may be able to help you if that doesn't work.

So you have to lose XM Radio for the iPod integration to work?

Basically, yes. This was not a big deal to me, I ditched the service anyway because it had gone downhill.

From what I understand, if you want to keep both, you have 2 options:

Switch to a non-factory radio. Many good options provide built-in iPod integration, Sat, Nav and BT phone.
Try the newer Dice i-VW/Audi-SAT component. This hooks into the Sat input on your factory radio, but lets you keep your XM service. It was not out in time for Christmas, might be now.

Or you can use one of the Dension units and a satellite passthru cable, such as is sold by Enfig. I have a Dension 300 & pass thru on order, to be installed in my A3 TDI after I take delivery sometime next week. I won't be using it with an iPod/iPhone ** instead, I'll be using a USB thumb drive (which is why I went with the 300 instead of the 100). I'm told it will work, and that the ID3 tag info from the thumb drive will show up on the DIS screen on the instrument cluster. I'll find out soon enough, I guess.

Whew! Thanks guys. I'm trying to keep all the factory look for now. Just trying to figure everything out before I start ordering parts.
