Called my dealer today and he had good news - my car is on the Grand Legacy and en route to the US. Should be here a few weeks earlier than I was planning for. He also sent me the ship tracking link:

Pretty cool. I know tracking your ship is pretty popular on the BMW side, glad to see it over here as well.

Afraid to say I stole the tongue in cheek title from AudiWorld. But only because it's so friggin' funny.

Wow! Thanks for that information. My car must be on that same boat as it was loaded on the 9th. Arrival on the 22nd..... I'm giddy with anticipation.
Cheers!

I wonder how often a boat leaves. Mine was loaded on the 7th. Its a cross atlantic barge race.

I'm actually amazed by how many boats are coming over with cars, even in a recession. No wonder we have a trade deficit as large as it is.

hey guys,
Just curious how long was your wait? I was told about 3 months and I am hoping it is less than that. How long did they tell you guys?
Thanks

3-4 months is the usual norm. Unless you got lucky like me and the dealer had an allocation that was already ordered, but not produced. In that case, the dealer can just change the specs of the car.
I put in my order 10/12 and expect delivery 12/16.
Additionally, I've been hearing many people get their car ~2 weeks ahead due to Audi taking into account possible delays in production/shipping.

I put my order in on August 19, hope to receive it the first week of November. That's just under 3 months, which seems to be pretty close to the norm.

Thank you guys for the response. I was told 3 months from the dealer and I am hoping it is sooner. I just need to be patient.

I am at 110 days now since ordered. So sometimes 3 months is a pipe dream.
33 days to go I am told.

I ordered my S5 cab on August 6th and it should be here before the end of the month. So that's less than three months, three months that seems like three years.

Oh man! I feel for ya man. Thats rough. Did they say whats holding it up?
not sure what the holdup was. I know it was a month or so before it was qued up for production, then it waited in a lot over there for a boat. It will sit and wait for a train once off the boat, then wait in toronto in a lot to be trucked to whitby....sad.
Oh well, whats another month. I will put the snows on it for the first drive. grr.

It seems the 'Grand Legacy' hasn't reported its position since the 14th.
Hopefully it's still on time for the 22nd :)

Yea, I have checked on this every few days, apparently, this is not tied into the GPS the company uses, but something closer to land (possibly cell tower triangulation or similar). It's roughly 3100 nautical miles from the Channel to the east coast of the US, at 19 knots (it's last reported rough speed) that puts it near the coast at around 6 days, 18 hours, so it should be reporting in here the next 12-20 hours give or take I think.

Well after wondering why the ship seemed overdue, I looked at that site more. It depends on people with FM antenna hooked to their PC for a lot of coverage, and then uploading the data. The range is typically a max of 40 nautical miles which and there are no colletors in the Brunswick area, the closest if Savannah, which has one offline.
So chances are the ship hit port already and has offloaded.

Crossing fingers for all the NC deliveries [cool]

I think the first week of Nov is very realistic, the Port of Brunswick is the 6th busiest port in the east coast.
Check out the area for cars (http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCP&cp=31.125628~-81.536483&style=h&lvl=16&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&sp=Point.p5n1pn864hy4_Port%20of%20Brunswick____&encType=1)
If you zoom in and move around you can see most of them look white due to the laminate they place over the cars which the dealerships removeas part of the prep.
"The Port of Brunswick forms a vital part of the city's economy. It is recognized as one of the most productive ports on the East Coast and is the sixth-busiest automobile port in the United States; it is the primary export facility for two of the three United States traditional automotive manufacturers: Ford and General Motors. In addition, the port is also the primary export facility for Mercedes-Benz. The port serves as the central import facility for Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Porsche, and Volvo. Audi, BMW, and Volkswagen utilize the port as a facility for imports as well."
