Hi Guys,
How do I remove a head unit when the clip inside the radio, where the key grips, is broken?

they're not all broken are they?

if only one is broken you can probably still push it out from the back of the unit (need to remove some panels) and work it out.

I had a similar issue... one of the 4 would not release but I could still push it out from the rear.

Not me, panelbeaters... Long story made short: Car was in accident (female), airbags deployed, panelbeater replaced the dash and broke one of the clips. I refuse to take it back to them...

I tried pushing it out, but no success. That one clip is stuck and i'm afraid i'll damage the trim.

so the HU won't even budge with only one corner being held?

sounds like the cage around the HU may be tweeked a little. My HU moved quite a bit and that's how i was able to push/work it out.

You do need to be careful. On my B7 I removed the glove compartment during the install to get better access. I was able to get my right hand behind the HU and provide slight pressure and movement.

+1

keep in mind, you can remove the glovebox and the driver's knee bolster to gain access to the sides of the headunit. Should be straight-forward from there.

mind describing how to remove both of those for us less experienced? Mine has the changer in the glove box too.
