I've read plenty of threads, but I'm curious what tires everyone received their car with.
I have a couple of favorite brands when it comes to tires...
But I'm also curious about other's thoughts, suggestions & real life reviews.

If you've had your car for a while, what do you think of the tires?
How would you judge their performance in the dry/wet?

Are you sticking with the tires you have or switching to your favorite brand?
Are you planning on getting winter tires? If so, what brand/size?

Hopefully this will be a helpful thread for Audi newbs such as myself for figuring out some of the tire/wheel stuff.

BTW, I took the tire options from TireRack.com. If you have another brand of tire, let us know!

TIA

Stock - 18x8" 245/40R18 Bridgestone Potenza Re050 - tyres dismounted and sold after car buying - 19" bought Michelin PilotSport II.
Autosport people at Russia refer to the Re050 as being a lousy tyres - don't know myself, drove them too little and too slow. Michelins PSII are great on wet/dry.

My winter tyres are Nokian Hakkapeliitta R (unstudded) 245/40 R18.

I asked my salesman what tires were on my car since it was delivered to the dealer on Thursday.

Bad News: 19" Pirelli PZeros - ugh. I feel a pit growing in my stomach. Crossing my fingers they will not cause issues. Especially since I'll be driving from NC to NoVa - around 300 miles.

I think the general rule is that tires take about 500 miles to break-in completely, so try to keep an open mind until that time. What issue(s) in particular are you referring to w/ the PZeros?

What's wrong with the Pirelli's?

I have 19" with PZeros on my A6, came with them from dealer and (knock on wood) they've been great. I've got 3000 miles on them and they're wearing well it seems.

What's wrong with the Pirelli's?

I've probably been reading the forums too much... some owners that have these have had the high speed vibration issue.
After a road force balance they've found out of round tires & tires that aren't able to be balanced.
One owner was able to have them replaced with another OEM brand.

Plus, I've had nothing but great experience w/ Bridgestone tires.

I will never buy a Pirelli again after the issues I had with them on my last car. Had 5 of them, the sidewall on every one of them shredded itself.

Reviving an old thread.
- OEM Conti Sport Contact - susceptible to tramlining, poor hydroplaning resistance
- Replaced with Michelin PSS - tramlining gone, standing water perform miles better, harsher ride - every road surface defect is felt, roll over on the track is an issue
- Added Bridgestone RE-71R for track days - still too early to say - more compliant to the road surface - less vibration from road imperfections

My last s4 had Continental sport contact 3 on 18" wheels. Did about 5000 miles on them till car got stolen. Current s4 has Avon zz5 on 19" - love them. Done about 2000 miles on them.
