Sneak peek of Audizine's next model review: 2010 A6 3.0T Avant

Fresh off the heals of our 2010 S4 sedan review (http://www.audizine.com/features/article.php?tid=11), I've got my hands on an all-new A6 Avant. Same amazing engine, much different shell. This might just be the closest that North America will get to a B8 S4 Avant.

It's an Avant thing, you wouldn't understand. [;)]

But really, it's great to have the perks of an SUV with the handling and balance of a sedan. Best of both worlds.

I actually love the wagon bodies. Had a couple SUVs just for the conveniance, then went to a B6 Passat Variant, my girl now drives a Mk4 Jetta Sportwagen with a 5MT and 1.8T and my next car once the C6 goes away will be another wagon. As Anthony said... some people just don't understand.

Avants are the best looking Audi's there are. Some people just don't get it.

I think I'm one of those people. I can appreciate them, but I rarely call them 'beautiful'. Although some examples are growing on me though, like Pesapc's car and the two B8 Avants featured on some tuning magazine a while back.


But then...what am I doing in the Avant forum..... Oh god no.

Theres a lot of anti Avant sentiment out there. I agree they don't get it and probably never will. One has to own one to appreciate them. They are the best of both worlds, better than those hatchbacks or the new slope backs thats all the rage in Europe. Avants are utilitaian above all. Who wants a suv today when you can have a wagon!

Not quite the "same" -- S4 has somewhat higher output (both supercharged, though). And no MT on A6 line in US.

Maybe they thought putting an 'S'-as in Supercharged; 3.0S--would cause some confusion between S cars?

Granted, T stands for turbo but Supercharger is also a type of forced induction.

I didnt think the supercharged mill would make it here in a wagon. This makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, now if only it had a manual.....

I was just thinking today that I really really want a C6 3.0t MT6 and you guys have to squash my dreams and tell me that they're not making them! I love A6's far more than 4 series so I want to get in a 6 again. So practical and sexy

I like it, better than the sedan version... really not a fan of this gen A6.. I was driving behind then pass a 3.0T A6 the other day on I485 and it just looked boring to me.. I am liking the style of the Avant more... always have though... Audi makes among the best looking/balanced wagons. Too bad there is no MT6, just for that reason I would not buy one.

Even tho i like sedans better, I LOVE AVANTS! ...and i think the B5 RS4 is the best looking Audi Avant. And yeah im not to sure about the new C6's..... :(

I have to agree on 6 vs 4 series in general, and 6MT in particiular. But the S4 of 2010 is a tad bigger than earlier renditions, if that's any help. And they do have the 6MT, of course. Not a huge fan of Avants, but Audi does a real nice job (esp AR). And front end and rims of that RS4 are gorgeous, Frank. Plus, it flies.
