Has anyone installed a carputer into an A4 with Bose system? I am planning pulling out my Symphony II and replacing it with a carputer, eventually I want to upgrade speakers/amps as well, but for now plan to run the Bose amp/speakers.

The thing I am having trouble finding much information on, is how to connect the outputs from the sound card to the input on the Bose amp. I know that it is a low level input on the amp, but am guessing that the output from the sound card is going to be high level.... so how the heck do I get from the sound card to the Bose amp?

Thanks.

What sort of outputs does your sound card have? Just headphone jack?

I have not picked up a sound card yet, but it will most likely have the typical 3.5mm outputs that come as standard. Looking at either a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE card, or using the onboard sound from a Gigabyte motherboard.

Which means you'll have no fade and probably have to purchase an aftermarket amp to run the front speakers on that. I believe the front speakers in your car are not amplified.

I am not so bothered about the fade, but it stinks that I may have to run an aftermarket amp just for the fronts. Oh well, I plan on replacing them with aftermarket speakers anyway, and already have a 4 ch amp sitting at home, was just hoping that while I saved for speakers after the carputer install I could run the Bose off the carputer.
