I was just curious. If an s4 is equipped with magnetic ride can you stil just put in lowering spring? Also, would coilovers even be doable with magnetic ride suspension?
Lowering the car with the Drive Select System can be done with just adding springs. This will lower the car, while retaining use of the damper control. If you decide to go with coilovers, I don't think you will be able to utilize the Drive Select. Anybody with Drive Select want to chime in here?

correct, lowering springs will work, although your drive select will feel different than it did before. installing coilovers requres replacing the magnetic dampening shocks, so you would in effect basically lose the ability to adjust ride, so drive select basically becomes steering tweaks only.
The issue I have not heard a good answer for yet is, when you do replace the magnetic shocks you get an idiot light in the dash, no one seems to know how to disable it in VAG yet.

I don't think these are magnetic shocks like they have on the Corvette or C-class. From what I these shocks are controlled by a valve which varies the stiffness. It is not the magnetic fluid that gets thicker like the Vettes. Correct me if I am wrong but this is what has been told to me. I also think you have to replace with the audi shocks can't go aftermarket(but this has to be confirmed).
That is the reason I have not ordered this option as it is about half the price of Stassis ohlins.

don't do it your Audi drive select will not work 100%
so if you anyone wants to add coilovers into the S4... then dont get the drive select right?

Exactly! Just get the sport diff package. That will give you everything but the suspension. Then you can modify your suspension as you like.

I have drive select.
I just took my springs out, cut two coils and put them back in. Lowered it around 1". Looks great. [evilsmile]

Cut your coils? Are you serious? No offense, but I would hope that you have more class than that, seeing as you drive an Audi (Prestige too!). [headbang]
I hear Autozone is having a sale on Street Glow...
Seriously though, do the right thing and spend the $300 or whatever and get real lowering springs. [wrench]

He must be joking. No one in their right mind would do that to a new Audi.
