Hey guys. Wondering about a stealth amp and sub install in the RRQP of the Avant. Its an 04 with a Symphony 2. My questions are:

1/ Does the amplifier in the rear drive "all" the speakers or just the sub?

2/ Upon removal of the factory sub/enclosure, there is enough space for how large of a subwoofer (assuming mdf/fiberglass enclosure...custom)? I already have a JL-10W6, but could drop to an 8" if needed.

3/ Has anyone used the subflooring in front of the spare wheel well to mount an amp? If so, is there enough heat dissipation?

Assuming hi-lo conversion tapped from amp or speaker level.

Left Rear Quarter cavity a possibility but would like to retain the location for XM/Sirius. Ideas welcome.

Here's what I learned while doing my install.

1. The amp in the rear drives the sub and rear door speakers.
2. Someone on here built up the stock sub enclosure for an aftermarket sub. I built a fiberglass enclosure on the driver's side and installed a shallow mount 10" sub.
3. I mounted both of my amps there but made a new false floor to accomodate the height of the amps. I also installed two fans to keep them cool.

I fiber glassed the stock sub box to fit 10". you get about .5 cu. ft. of airspace.
and I fiber glassed another 10" for the other side. threw a sony amp in the space between floor and cover. added some led fans to cool it. almost done with total installation. having issues with power ant. wire. i got some pics on my photo gallery.. i will try to post some pics....http://www.audizine.com/gallery/data/500/IMG_04851.JPG was this is what your looking to do?[:D]

Rickadoe:

Thanks. That's exactly what the mind's eye had going. It's good to know that a 10" will work, as I already have the JL. I have an Xtant 3300c, but it's a bit too tall to use for the floor. Will be selling this one to find an old PPI Art Series. I've done a FG box in my Corrado, so this should be no sweat.

Thanks to both of you for the fan idea. That will be a must.

When you say you fiber glassed the stock sub box to fit 10", do you mean you modified the stock sub box? I have a 10" that is recommended for 0.5 cu ft, and if I can modify the existing box to fit, I may go that way instead of creating a new box.

Might be easier since I have never used fiber glass before as well. I guess the only problem then is my stock sub box is probably no good for the stock sub if I were to switch back.
