I have a 01 S4 WITH the bose system and a Eclipse avn 5435 head unit. I recently got my two 12" Kappa infinity perfect subs installed with 2 pioneer 500w amps. I told the installer I don't want to blow my speakers and to have them just going to the subs but on the lowest level possible. He said I would blow my bose system in a month and he didn't even want to do the install. Now, after not bumping my subs I have a crackling sound coming from my back passenger door. I moved the balance all the way to the front but I can still hear it. It makes sounds as I accelerate and deccelerrate, even when I push the clutch it, it stops. I was wondering if this is cause from a bad install or did I somehow blow my speakers. Please help. Any suggestions would be helpful. http://www.audizine.com/gallery/data/500/DSCN0555.JPG

Is it a crackling or a whine? The reason I ask is that you may have engine noise, which can be caused from multiple different things. I only assume engine noise cuz you hear it when the engine has load.

1. Bad ground
2. Bad install with power wire being run along the RCA cable.
3. Cheap RCA cables used and possible defect.

Possible solutions:

Get a better battery such as an Optima
Get a engine noise filter
Get a capacitor

did u ever figure out what the problem was? my bro has a similar problem in his ride and I was thinking it was a faulty ground for sure, I had no idea it was bad to run the remote power line along with the rca cables...

one of two things... either you have a short in the wiring to that speaker at the door hinge (common), or you've blown that speaker. Depending on how the installer setup your system. specifically, what headunit outputs he used to power the amp, the speaker could very well be blown.

I had a very similar problem... turns out the connector on the speaker had worked its way lose, causing intermittent signal and noise. Pop off the door panel n check it out.

2nd that. I had the EXACT problem the OP is describing. I re-connected the wire harness on the amp and everything was fine. Also make sure both speakers are ground right or it will make that nasty crackling sound.
