I know this has been covered I've searched around a bit but I have not found a conclusive step by step solution. I have a 2007 2.0T with RNS-E but no bose. I am looking to add an aux input. From this thread http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?p=4046918#post4046918 it seems to be do-able. However I was curious if anyone who has the keys to their RNS-E could post pictures of the supposed left-aux, right-aux, and aux-ground connections before I go out and buy the stereo keys and start to try this. In addition will I have to update my software/firmware before using the VAGCOM?

You would need to run at least software 0650 (Europe) or 0260 (US) to get th eAUX IN option. The connector and pins are available through your dealer.

Yea I was just reading that exact post actually, now my question is if I get a 2009 navi disk in the US will it automatically update to the 260 software?
If not I am curious how to easily update my software to version 260. I have version 650 but I feel like it may be a bit of a headache to update to a european software version.

and yes, if you pick up the '09 disc, when you put it in, it will start the upgrade automatically. This is assuming you're running US software with a version < 0260
if you plan on using US maps...don't plan on using EU software...

Well I just went to the Audi dealership to try to use an '09 disk to update and they were really obnoxious about helping me. The service guy said he couldnt because he would be held responsible for any damage as if an official update would cause any harm. The sales manager was going to charge me for the new disk and when i mentioned I was under warranty they said that their warranty doesnt cover software. In order to do this legally one must buy the new dvd for over $100 which defeats the purpose entirely.

or one must procure an 09 disc from an 09 car. I know a few people who have new A3's with aux ins. When I mentioned getting the disc from them, the dealership told us (I was at the dealership with bskis) that the discs are locked in to the headunits of new audis and you cant even eject them.
can anyone confirm this? if it isnt the case i can update software easily.

There's an option in vag-com that basically disables the eject funtion for cars that are being sold at the dealership to prevent people from stealing the disc. I don't recall the exact channel...but it's there, and can be re-coded. [up]

yes, but when they turn the car over to you is the eject option still disabled? my friends brand new 09 A3 with RNS-E has an 09 navi disc. will i be able to eject that from his car to put it in mine or no?

depends if the dealership remembered to do this or not... If you have a vag-com, it's a simple re-code and you're set [up]
if not, he should just goto the dealership and tell them to do this...as they should've.
