After having found someone that is willing to integrate my PTT button on the steering wheel to activate voice recognition for either of those units I am now pondering, which one? Any experience with either unit is appreciated. [:D]
I would be adding MSN Direct and Ipod access to either of those units.
Both really great units, but I like Pioneers quality and menu.

Kenwood because of Garmin. The spoken directions with street names means you don't have to watch the map at all. People get carried away with all the A/V doo ddads. They forget cars are meant for driving !

I think both the units are so new there is going to be some time needed before a real large number of comparisons are available

We sell both units. That said, the 9140 is by far the best nav/dvd unit I have ever used period! Great to use, voice recognition works well, Garmin nav, indicators for nav and audio on screen at same time and swappable positions and on and on!

You can't go wrong w/GARMIN as the NAVI and PARROT BLUETOOTH on the KENWOOD.
Pioneer has nice gui interface and aesthetics, but the GPS and BLUETOOTH are all Pioneer software.
Also, not sure but does the Pioneer have TV capabilities in the future? I know the 9140 is DIGITAL TV ready once Kenwood comes up w/the TV box for it.

Anyone experienced significant delays using the Ipod--I guess do to the album art on the KW?

^I guess that sucks. Im gonna make good use of the USB drives though, get a couple 8-10 gig memory sticks, to me that better than ipod. Dont have to mess around with all the Itune bs.

I have the 7140. IPod navigation is as fast as using the Ipod itself. In fact I think it's faster because of the touch screen. The album art sometimes takes a couple of seconds but has no effect on anything else.

I'm looking at this unit and the Pioneers, but heard the menus on Kenwoods are a bitch to learn. Any feedback on that? I'm an iPhone/Mac Pro user, so usability is HUGE for me.
Also, regarding any feedback from anybody on the new Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT, is the boot up time still slow like on the older 900's? Did they remedy that?
Thanks!

Installed my kenwood 9140 today. And yeah there are alot of menus, takes a good 10min to get used too. Sound quality seems to be a huge improvement over my old ddx8017 unit. And picture quality is top notch. Also very fast usb reader, bought an 8gig usb drive to test it out. Its surely a very high tech unit.

Considering Kenwood DNX6140 for 07 A4. Told by Audi dealers that aftermarket radio can effect OBD diagnostic system of car and that there could be problems witth amplification of rear factory speakers. They look like great units and are recommended by every professional installer I have spoken with. Have you experienced any of these problems? Thanks much.
I put a Z110 in my car last week. I have installed about 5 9140's and a couple Z110's.
If you will be building a system in your car with amps and new speakers, etc, get the 9140. If you want something simple with a great looking gui, buy the Z110.
If price wasn't an option, I would buy the 9140, no doubt about it.

I install for a living, and have yet to have any problems with putting aftermarket stereo's in to audi's.

Well my 2009 TTS would throw you for a loop then.
The remote turn on for the bose amp is now handled by the canbus so its digital. They seemingly did this for the US models only and its really a PIA.
You cannot tap into a remote turn on like you normally could. Only way to get stock bose to work (and dont say replace the stock amps and speakers) is to bypass the amp and drive the speakers with the 50w coming from the Z110 head unit.
NOT a way to do things.
However, we think we have found a solution with an adapter by a German company called Dietz

I was speaking in regards to causing issues with obd systems.
What may work for you, is replacing the bose amp with an aftermarket amp and leave the factory speakers in. In my a6, this is what I did originally because my factory amp took a dump.

i just installed 9140 in my b7. gotta love garmin. i haven't had a chance to test out most of the features but so far i am liking it.
seems like garmin maps is a bit outdated though but that's a simple fix by downloading and uploading it to my head unit.
i tried two calls with bluetooth and seems like it's working fine. at both times callers on the other side didn't complaint about call quality.
on the other side this thing has so much features and i need to figure out how to use them all. you really need to read manual and try it. and yes it does take about 15 to 20 seconds to boot up which is kinda annoying sometimes but at this point there is nothing i can do.

here's a question... I'm looking at these two units as well, but why are these so highly priced vs this

seems like they do the same things

The difference between buying off brand and name brand. I would steer clear of the unit you linked.

Anyone have any info on the way the maps work without having North be facing Up the screen. Let me know, I watched some videos on youtube showing the maps not being able to show streets unless North is at the top of the screen. This all for the kenwood DNX 9140

Kenwood has the brand names (Parrot, Garmin) but their user interface is, IMO, crap. That's why I don't own one. The AVIC series is so much easier to get around and operate and that's worth not having Garmin or Parrot.
