I have a kenwood system and have to mount the navigation antenna somewhere. I have heard of people mounting it inside the grill in the center of the dash but have been able to figure out how. I wouldn't mind the small antenna being in the middle of my dash really close to the window. umm.... help?

Pull out your gauge cluster with a couple torx bolts and mount it behind there. Should work perfectly.. look on like navparts.com for an install guide on their RNS-E units and they show where to mount it behind there.

they say/show to mount it behind the cluster... but how is it supposed to get a view of the sky from under my dashboard?

Electromagnetic waves (ie radio, micro, tv) can pass through many materials (aka how you get TV through your roof at home, if on antenna).
