Im in the process of switching over the factory components in my B6 S4 to Boston acoustic pro series but have run into a small problem. THe factory speakers are mounted about an inch and a half off the metal frame of the door on a 7 inch diameter cylinder. I am unable to mount my speakers flush with the metal frame up front because the power windows are in the way.
Is there any aftermarket company that has something specially designed for B6 Audis so we can easily mount aftermarket speakers into the factory locations?

sounds like the factory mounting housing is no longer installed... if you have the plastic speaker mounts, you can run any aftermarket 6.5 speaker.

the speaker and mounting hardware seem to be a single unit... do they come apart? I have done some research online and the bose ones seem to screw apart from each other. Mine is definitely a single unit. I guess there is nothing stopping me from cutting the old speaker away from the oem mounding hardware, but i have always been one to keep oem parts in the event i would have to switch it back.

The "unit" you're referring to is not a single unit... It should be a black plastic enclosure with vents on the back side, and 3 mounting points to the car. The bose speaker is screwed into this with 4 torx screws. The speaker itself may be a stuck against the housing, so you may need to gently pry it off the housing. After that, you'll see that you can mount just about any 6 1/2" speaker. And be able to re-install the bose speaker if you ever needed to.
