infinity components? a good choice or not?

ok well right now i have a infinity 10" woofer and rear 6.5" infinity REF speakers. I want to get front 5.25" infinity reference components and amplify those instead of the current rears... They will cost me $100 to install. Anyone have these speakers or think i should consider diff speakers? I like the sound of the regular 2-way 6.5" that i have now so i figure why not go with the REF components? i would think the sound quality would be greatly increased...

Personally, I always like their reference line, but last set I listened to was probably 6 years ago...

let me tell you something, i had alot of cars sytems in my life so far, I personaly like the polka momos series, if you intrested i will let you know which model, they are best in my openion, i heard sound that came out of them that never heard on any other speaker.
go with a nice head unit, a nice amp and nice set of Polk Momos for inside components speakers and you will enjoy them every minute you are in the car.

Infinity Reference series speakers are great for sound quality if you dont want bass out of them. They leave something to be desired if you dont have a sub but i have always liked them and think they sound great for the money.


QFT. They're not my favorites, but they do have some great highs for the price level (reference series).


With that said, I do have kappa perfects (top of their line) in my truck, and they leave a lot to be desired for being $600 a pair (I didn't pay that).

I often hear a lot of people complain about speakers, especially installers. Just because you can wire up some speakers doesn't make you a sound expert or mean you have a ear for it. Being able to tune your speakers and set the right levels on your equipment makes a huge difference. I've seen people who have complete garbage in their cars sound better than people who go out and spend $$$$ because they just wired them and didn't know how to adjust the levels on their amps or head units. It's like giving a trained musician a cheap ass guitar, he's still going to make it sound good. But if you give an ametuer an expensive guitar it's still going to sound like crap!

One thing I will add. When you go to buy speakers from some of the name brand companies. Look into who realy makes them. For example the current alpine SPR top of the line comps the mid-bass are made by scanspeak, I forget who makes the tweets. I'm pretty sure polk momo's are outsourced as well. I recently installed a set of Illusion audio 6.5's (super shallow mount due to inverted magnet design) in my front doors and its like night and day differance for the stock speakers. Can't wait to see how they sound amped. I have owned a lot of differan't high end stuff MB Quart Q's A/D/S, Nakamichi, Diamond audio, Alpine type R, Image dynamics And some custom designed stuff, I have owned the Infinnity refferance as well and yes there tweets are decent the rest of the set-up is terrible. The best 2-way coaxial set I have ever had was some Kove audio 5.25's I scored on e-bay for 30 bucks. It amazes me why people love Bose so much. In my oppinion they are terrible. Anyway to finalize my rant. Go listen to a bunch of stuff and then install it at a good stereo place. Not bestbuy. What sounds good in the store may sound terrible in your car. One thing to consider when picking speakers is the amp makes a huge differance as well. I try to make the shope use the same amp i'm going to be using when picking speakers.
