How difficult would it be to replace the stock bose sub with something aftermarket and keep all of the stock equipment.

NOTE*** I want to use all of the stock items just change the crappy bose sub.

is this possible?

Thanks
Z

This has been discussed many-a-times...

You're going to run into a few problems:

The factory amp doesn't put out very much power. Unless you're using a very low-power sub, it's not going to sound very well at all, and will actually be quieter then the factory solution.

Bottom line, if you want to replace the factory sub, use an aftermarket amp to power it.

does the wiring for the bose sub have the remote turn on wire? if it does i can use most of that harness for another amp except for power that will run from the batt right?

http://www.audizine.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=1687&pictureid=5790 this is where i am going right now. but i unfortunately had a 3rd shoulder surgery ...[headbang] so the rest of the build is kinda on hold right now. i just used fiberglass to seal it and make stock box hole bigger to fit a 10". so it's and around .5 cu ft. i am gonna add some slim subs when i am all set. the polk in the pic is not very powerful. i think like 100w rms....and i am using stock amp. its not all that, but it gets the job done for me for now...i know i'll get bored and will definitely swap subs and amp out...[wrench]

Yeah...there's people that do it...then report later that they're going to change amps since it didn't help.

Does the Polk sound better than the stock sub, or is there not enough power for it?
