15gig for a vmware image is what a typical desktop system would take. It is a computer all neatly wrapped up in a vmware instance

I have this program on a few disks. Mine is the full dealership factory software - it even asks for me to put in my dealership information.

As soon as I put in the Vin the car is selected with your options and I have the full repair manual for VW, Audi and Skoda.

As another posted said. Repair manuals - part numbers diagrams. all quite helpful.

I have used it for my B6 S4, my C5 A6 and a few VWs here at work.

Between this and VAG-Com - it has a lot of information. My only issue was getting ELSAWIN to work properly on my compter - sort of like this issues of getting the correct virtual com port assigned for VAG-COM - I have had it on the same laptop for 3 years and just use the laptop for this and VAG-Com.

You have to use a different iso reader. It won't work with winrar or a few other programs. I believe you want to try poweriso.

I find the big problem with the Bently manual , is that it's rather skimpy on info . It tells you to remove a part for a repair but makes no mention of the three other parts you need to remove first.[down]

and the fact that the Bentley software is buggy as hell, whether on Vista or not. Still can't print, useless customer support.....[headbang]

Got it working in windows xp. FYI this is the original 13GB torrent listed.

A few things to note. I mounted everything with poweriso as I had read that daemon tools and winrar don't work so well with these isos for some reason.

First install the program from CD1 and then you install the "data" DVDs. In this case you only really need DVD1 since that is Audi. DVD2 is Seat, DVD3 is Skoda & DVD4/5 are VW.

DVD1 is shown as "2008-004" and has the R8, so it's pretty recent.

Going through the installation of CD1 I selected the third option (forgot the name) for something like Repair Manual + ___ + ____. Then I selected Apos rather than Apos/2 or AposPro (no idea what these meant but it worked for me).

After installing CD1 and DVD1 open ElsaWin (admin/admin) and it's in German even though you selected English during the install! To fix this you go to Einstellungen and then the second option. There you can choose English.

The default username/password is admin/admin. You'll need to go in to "ElsaWin Administration" and create another username with administrator rights to view the repair manual and everything else. For some reason admin can't do anything with the repair manual and all that.

You can see the options I used at the bottom. VIN didn't work so I just did it by engine code and transmission code after the Audi, 2006, A4 part. Just guessed the transmission code as I only found that listed for B6s. Close enough I guess.

Think I got everything. Let me know if y'all want help.

I think we're talking about different downloads. I never tried to download the VM image. I work with VMWare plenty and I don't want to install VMWare player on my computer [:p] I just installed ELSA & ETKA on my laptop. Seems more useful having it there with vag-com and everything.

And for those who don't know, Elsa/ETKA is not same as Bentley Manual. Bentley is just that - a manual. Elsa/ETKA contains full factory manual, repair procedures, parts list etc...

Yea, I agree. Look at the various things you can do, this is meant to tie to a central server with work orders and to a remote server that can look up VIN numbers and everything. I'll post a screen shot of all of the available functions later. There's a lot of stuff.

Yep, I searched on isohunt and got more trackers for that same torrent. You do need to use the info in the crack directory...forgot about that. It gives you an initial key and then you use the keygen for the provisional code to finish the install.

Has anyone been able to get wiring diagrams out of this? I can only find the component locations but not diagrams.

Also, this does not seem to contain any info about in depth repair procedures.

So far the Bentley manual seems far better for wiring diagrams and repair procedures.

I'm looking at the 2000 A4 and S4.

Did you download all the DVDs? you only need CD1 and DVD1 for Audis

CD1 -> Burn it onto a CD, Nero works for me
DVD1 -> Mount it with Daemon tools or Nero if you don't want to burn it on a DVD.
-> or you can burn in onto a DVD using Nero as well.

Install CD1, use the Crack file for the serial number, then install DVD1.

I posted two links, one is the VMware file (which you downloaded) and the other one is just image files of ELSAwin 5DVDs + 1CD

the one you downloaded is the VMware one. It works too, but it includes the entire operating system(Windows XP in Russian [headbang]) and you need to use VMware to mount it.

I would suggest you to download the link in the original post ... IT(VAG....blah blah blah)

I downloaded it, and I think I have it installed, made another user, set it to admin, but I can't seem to do anything else. It won't let me see a parts view for specific cars, just general info. I installed using poweriso as was mentioned previously because I don't have a DVD burner, installed the Audi info and vw info.
Is there a 'how to' out there on how to use Elsa? From what I heard it's got something like the old ETKA parts system built into it, but I can't figure it out at all.

go to http://intertracker.org and sign up for a forum account, then search for the torrent file again "(IT)VAG ....etc" and download it! <-- this one will have a passkey

the forum is in german, but the sign up process is very simple, just like any other forums. .... sign up - > fill in name, email, username, password, check your email and activate account...etc

One of the torrents listed (not the vmware one) required registration to a particular tracker site. I tried to rev to that site, but it would accept gmail or yahoo emails because it considers them 'disposable' email addresses. But if you go to isohunt and search for elsawin it will give you a couple of other trackers that do not require passkeys (i.e. no registration needed at a tracker site).

Took me about a day to download. No I just need a manual for the dang thing! LOL

The repair manual and the wiring diagrams for sure. Used it for both my old GTI-VR6 and the S4.

I don't have a Bentley for the S4 so I can't really compare, but the Bentley for my VW was not as in depth as ELSA. BTW, took me a few tried to get it working initially, but its not a problem anymore.

Obviously you will need WinRAR to extract those. If you do, right-click one of them (doesn't matter which one) and select Extract Here. They are all part of one archive and all of them will get extracted. That will get you to install files. I can PM you my number if you get stuck and I'll guide you through.

ELSA is what is used by Audi/VW. Bentley manual will not have as much information although it will guide you through most of the stuff. Be careful posting screenshots on public forums. They really frown on that.

LOL!! no problem man! I had a problem at first, but I think there were some instructions on one of the torrent pages too, and I'm familiar with a little bit of German so the menus weren't that nutty for me to figure out.

What are your thoughts on the Bentley Manual? I'm assuming you have received our order since you last posted on the subject. I have been doing a bit of research on here and the consensus seems to be that it's lacking in details a bit. However, I'm not a big repair guy at all and I'm only looking for basics so I was wondering what your thoughts are?

If anyone also has a Macbook and the Bentley manual, are there any compatibility issues?

I've always had to use the Bentley eBahn app on a Windoze box (or VMware). You can also get materials online directly from Audi (for a fee), but it too requires Windoze. http://erwin.audiusa.com

Did you load the program, or just download the files? You have to go into the ELSA administrator and create a new user and then start up Elsa and log in with the name you just created.

Qucik steps.

Download from isohunt
Extract the files
run the setup on CD1 (use temp install code supplied) meanwhile burn DVD4 (Audi) on to a DVD
When CD1 install finishes it will ask to load data (which is DVD 4)
Run crack and get permanent code
Launch app and you're all set.. It's in english and be sure to add a user first thing

ok, so i downloaded it from here

i downloaded winrar and extracted file r00-r29 into winrar from the dvd1 folder but cannot extract the rest of the files through winrar.. where the hell do i get the option for a username and password? i am completely lost as this is my first time doing this??

Did you download all the DVDs? you only need CD1 and DVD1 for Audis

CD1 -> Burn it onto a CD, Nero works for me
DVD1 -> Mount it with Daemon tools or Nero if you don't want to burn it on a DVD.
-> or you can burn in onto a DVD using Nero as well.

Install CD1, use the Crack file for the serial number, then install DVD1.


i have cd1 on a cd.. you say install it? it is already on the computer.. and what crack file for what serial number? i am not getting anything besides what joey did in his post #75

It's extracted on the PC but has to be installed like any other application. There is also a file called crack.exe that generates the temp install key as well as the permanent key.. Oh! Once you extract CD1 there is a .cue file that is the file that you need to burn onto a CD, or extract separately..

On CD1 there is a file called README that has some basic info..

It's all very simple for me, but difficult to explain on a forum.. email me and I can give you a better writeup.

Is the internet connection something that needs to be set up? I logged on as admin to see if I could figure it out but was unable too.

Well -- upgraded to ELSAWIN 3.61 (and ETKA 7.2) today and for some reason can't get any info to load :(

Program runs, is in English (With my new username) and I can enter my car info... just can't get anything to actually pop up in the windows (no job list, etc, etc)

I'll keep banging on it and see if I can break something the right way :p

ElsaWeb is Audi's dealership repair information (as the name imply's it's web based), ElsaWin sounds to be ripped version of ElsaWeb that isn't dynamically updated. ElsaWeb has a lot of information, but it's definitely only partial information, and also has many...many... errors (wrong pictures, wrong info, missing info, etc... for the car you're working on). It's too be expected though, it's translated from German and doesn't have the userbase as say GM does for their repair information, and the complexity of Audi's increases the problem.

The point I'm getting at is that the Bently manual probably has close to if not more info than ELSA does for the car you get it for.

There is A LOT of "you just gotta know" when working with ElsaWeb.

Anything needing to go online with that program is most likely trying to connect to Audi's database and will not let you as a valid login is required, for instance the ServiceNet button, possibly the vehicle identification button, and who knows what else as the the real program (ElsaWeb) is all online.

Anyone tested ELSA/ETKA with Windows 7 yet? My SSD just showed up in the mail so i'm going to install the RTM once our image goes live on Thursday and want to put ELSA/ETKA back on there. Oh and for anyone who was wondering, VAG-COM works fine with Windows 7 as long as you've got 904 or higher.

Well, I just received the Bentley Publishers DVD for the S4 repair manual (along with A4 and whatever else comes on the DVD) and guess what? Windows gives me an error message immediately when I try to start up the program. My PC computer is no more than 4 months old and has NOTHING with regards to music/multimedia on there and is 80% free space (I have all that on my MacBook).

Damn I hate Windows. You couldn't PAY ME to own another one.[evilmad][evilmad][evilmad]

You would then need to burn that image file to a disc and then load the program from the disc to your pc.

Ok, ElsaWin is up and running. The main reason for me to download this was to find out whatthe pin layout is for my connector to my central electronics box (part no. 8E0 907 279 L).

Just wondering how to wire my new light setup. Can't seem to find this OR the part numbers to make sure I got the right control box.

My plan: change from halogen to bi-xenon, include auto levelling, include DRL / ch/lh switch ,(maybe auto light switch without a light sensor)

All I could find was the image about how the axle sensors are installed/attached (which I did find very helpful)

any help is appreciated
