hiya, well, it seems like some idiot decided to squeeze past my car and scratched the crap out of my clearcoat. i was hoping someone can recommend a GREAT place (in metro LA) to take my car to get it all buffed out.

If you're willing to travel just outside of metro LA, I know of a great place in the city of Alhambra. It's located off of the San Bernardino 10 Fwy, about 10-15 minutes east of downtown LA. The name of the place is Butch's Beauty Shine. My family, friends, and I have been taking our cars there for ~16 years. Their telephone number is 626-281-5694, talk to Jim. He always has the answering machine on, so be sure to leave a message. He's a "car guy" and will treat you and your car well.

thanks ed. what am i looking at for cost of a full on exterior polish and wax?

I'm just giving an approximation here, because I don't know the current condition of your paint or how badly it's scratched (nor am I an automobile detail professional). If you're looking to just do the exterior, it will probably be about $60-$80. If you want the interior done as well, I would say about $90-$100, and if you want the engine bay cleaned on top of everything else, you're probably looking at $110-$125.

I have found Jim's prices and quality of work to be the best, and that is why I have brought my cars to him for so many years. I've brought him cars with overspray, scratches, and other irregularities, and he's always been able to take care of them. Give him a call and describe to him the condition of your car and he should be able to give you a ballpark figure as to how much it will cost to completely detail your car.
