View Full Version : Feeler: Rim repair day at A1?

I've been speaking with Jason Irby of United Wheel Techs regarding doing repairs for some wheels for myself and my girlfriend. I wanted to ask if there were any A1 regulars who would be interested in this.

I suppose if enough people are interested and can confirm that they will be there, I can ask Jason to do a Saturday wheel repair day at A1.

Let me know and I'll try to schedule.

PS - This will probably have to be in late October, as I need to take care of some things before I can attend to scheduling this.

Yup....something did happen to one of them. One of the spokes got some light damage. Something got knocked into it (like a big rock) and chipped off some of the finish. It's about the size of a quarter.

From a distance, it looks like a bird sh!t stain, but upon closer inspection, you'll find what I described above. I'm majorly pissed, as I didn't even get to enjoy them for a full week; but nothing I can do about it...except to get it refinished.

For those of you interested, can you let me know the number of rims you need refinished? Thanks!

all 4 rims have minor curb rash on them. Do you think it would be worth it to repair them if 2 of the rims have minor, minor bends (almost unnoticeable) on the lip?

Does he fix bends?

What kind of bend? Is the lip of the rim bent or is the rim itself bent?

I'll have to call to find out.

the rim itself

i have 3 rims for sure. if its cheap enough, i'll fix the 4th. bascially the flat rate works best on the one rim with alot of rashes. ;)

Hi ,

I hope to give United Wheel Techs a rim count to see if we can get a price break. Right now, they charge $90/rim -- they refinish the entire rim.

Thanks!

Anson

My apologies to all who replied to this thread with interest in a possible rim repair day at A1.

I was unable to schedule this for late October due to a hectic schedule. If you are still interested in this, please let me know. I'll see about possibly scheduling this for early December.

Thanks!

Seeing as though I messed up my wheels I am down. $90 is kind of steep but I have to get them fixed
