i went in today to get a DV and set up an appointment to have it installed, and they randomly decided to jack up the install price. Two different people told me half an hour labor at $32.50 (one hour being $65.00). I went in today and they told me $75.00, I told them that i was quoted $32.50 and they instantly both claimed that they would have at least said 45 min. labor, that's bullshit. I would install it myself, and i know how to, but i'm not physically able to due to injuries. Just wanted to vent and let people know, and if anyone knows someone who could do it for a reasonable price, let me know.
Thanks

The price of labor at the old shop was $65 an hour. It is $75 an hour at the new shop. They just moved into the shop about a week ago. Not exactly sure what day they changed the price. I had my suspension installed on Friday the 13th and they hooked me up with the old rate. I got my coilovers installed for $227 which is a great price. Do you know who originally quoted you?

no, but one was over the phone and a different person told me in person at the shop $32.50, it just bugs me that they're not honest about it and they changed a price on me. It's not a big deal but i just won't give business to people like that. Ecode tuning does it for $30, my only issue is the drive, it'll cost $20-30 bucks in gas, but at least he's reasonable.
45 min!??!?! I can do it in 20 minutes.

I didn't know the price had changed either until I showed up to my appointment. They still gave me the old price even though they had already changed it and it was posted on the wall. Its weird they gave you trouble about that. They just offered me the old price when I went to pay for it. They did my install in 3.5 hours and the estimated time for the kit is up to 4 hours.
Sucks you had a bad experience like that. I understand where you are coming from. They are a good shop and can get you good prices, too bad it turned out like that for you. I would talk to the owner, Troy, and explain what happened to you. He is an Audi enthusiast and is on AZ. I'm sure he will be willing to sort things out.

i'd love to sort things out, they are the only tuner shop in san diego that is majority european. It's hard to find a shop that even knows what an audi is. It just comes down to $32.50 vs. $75.00, in my eyes that's a big difference, they could tell i was upset so the told me they'd give me the old labor price of $65.00/hr., but they were still charging for a whole hour rather than half an hour. Thanks alot for the info Astris and reassuring me that they are a good shop, cause there isn't any around here. I'll try to talk to Troy and see whats up.

Yeah, Troy is a good guy and I'm sure he'd be happy to take care of a fellow AZ'er.
Just wanted to add though, that $75 is a very low hourly labor rate! Wish we had more shops around here that were that cheap! [:D] Of course that's not your point, and I know that. I'm just sayin...in general...wow. [:)]

i think if you claimed someone said and someone did quote you the lower price they shoulda just let it go at that price! it's not like it was a major job it was a few dollars they were arguing over and what was the result? a bad taste in a customer's mouth leading to negative feedback to others such as this. also a loss of potential sales from a returning customer
not too many companies nowadays cater to customers but to the almighty dollar. [rolleyes]

Intelligently said, unfortanetly they will lose business from me, i'd now rather send my business and money to some of the dealers online in this forum.

Hello All,
First I would like to apologize to a4audi_SD for the hassle he had to endure to to our growing pains. I originally started in this business because the salesman at my local speed shop could not or would not find parts for my car(he actually told me there was nothing at all available and to buy a more popular car). Frustrated I searched high and low for the parts I wanted and found them with a little work. I then brought the list of what parts I wanted, where he could get them, and how much I was willing to pay. The store manager heard our conversation and offered me a job. Once I started always tried to treat my customers as I wanted to be treated because of my bad experience with the previously mentioned salesman. I have always tried to continue this practice especialy now that I own the shop and I ask my salesman to be as helpful and considerate as possible. We are unfortunately experincing some serious growing pains due to the very recent move into our new larger facility and a4audi_SD was unfortunately inconvenienced because of the confusion betwen my salesman about the new labor rate versus old labor rate and our !/2 minum labor charge. I wanted to assure you that this is not a common practice for us and that I have spoken with my salesman to ensure this mix up does not happen to anyone else. My sincerest apologies again to a4audi_SD.
Oh Yeah--that diverter valve install is now free due to the hassle a4audi_SD had to put up with---
a4audi_sd-----You have a PM
Astris--Thank you for the kind words and I hope you car is handling well [:)] Email me about your resale info at
[email protected] whenever you get a chance.
Lon and Anthony -----Thank you both for bringing this to my attention as I have been to busy setting up the new shop to get enough time to log on to Audizine--
Without Audizine I may have never known there was a problem that needed to be addressed.
Big props to the Zine!! [;)]

No, thank you Troy for helping to make things right with a fellow AZ'er! Props to you. http://www.audizine.com/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif
But of course I had no doubts you'd do your best to straighten things out once this was brought to your attention.

Props to you for working out this issue. You guys gave me the old labor rate so I had no problem. I wish I would have had you guys adjust my coilovers to a lower height. I hit you up with a email.

I got a message from troy and i'm quite impressed. He's an honest man and really does treat others in the scene the way they want to be treated. He's sorted everything out and proved that his shop definetly stands out from the rest. I am gladly going to send this and all my future business to Group5, and would like to encourage everyone else to keep them in mind for great CS.
Thanks also to anthony, bugzy, and astris
