I live in Malibu now and I want to get my windows tinted. Cost is not an issue and I am willing to drive an hour or so. Where is the best place down here in SoCal to get my tinting done? I'd like to get 5-20% all around, but my main goal is to have the tint match the paint in color and tone (brilliant black). Thanks!

Don't think you'll get much response out of the SoCal'ers until tomorrow. They're all off to today's beach BBQ GTG. [cool]
I can recommend some spots up here though... [:D]

Sorry, no more NorCal for me, I have happily moved on :D

Sun Dimmers in Van Nuys (near the Galpin dealerships)
This is their new location. I've been using Joe for the past 6 years and he does excellent work including tinting front windshields which i've always done. They mostly use Formula One film and carry all the different types from the classic to the metallics and ceramics.

Tint plus down here in Mission Viejo and Rancho Santa Margarita does a really nice job, and they have the newer ceramic tint that has all the UV and heat blocking of metallic, without the loss of your AM radio reception; however, they might be pushing your 1 hour drive time.

I have a ValentineOne radar detector, do I need to stick with classic tints or can I get the metallic or ceramic ones?

ceramic is the way to go if you don't mind spending more. just like what SoCalAgentMSK said, all the benefits of metallic (in fact even better at heat reduction) and no worries regarding interference of radio, phone, or radar detector.

That sounds awesome. So how much is it, $300-400? Can't wait to get this done.
