Track times with headers
So for over a year and a half now, Ive been prodding and poking at my car looking to turn over all the stones I can to find that last bit of power.
Ive searched and looked over all the chips, sorted threw all the Dp options and just took a smart approach to the entire exhaust system.
Last time I was at the track, the testing and results I got from testing clearly payed off. I moved in the proper direction both in parts and performance.
1 year later the car performance parts wise was ready to go prove once again all the advice I give you guys is the same advice I take for myself and that If you follow the formula you will get results.
A quick side note
I really have an issue with some people that feel because I have JHM parts on my car and I can speak knowledgeably about them, that the information is any less useful.
People will say "oh your just saying that because you have JHM parts and you like JHM".......aaaaahh no I'm saying that because I have JHM parts on my car, as well as several others that were smart enough to do so, are getting great results.
When I see people struggling what am I supposed to say? other then what Ive seen and what Ive done on my car. I don't know how looking and finding the proper parts, is somehow less helpful because I'm recommending the parts I have on my car.
Just because I can speak knowledgeably about the parts I have on my car and dispel any of the misinformation about what some people are talking about, doesn't make me a fan boy of anyone, It just makes me someone that understands and can talk knowledgeable about the parts on my car...I let the track and the cars performance back that up.
Am I a fan (like so may others) of JHM your dam right.. and here is why...
Last time I raced a modded BMW M3 to show the cars street potential. This time I stepped it up against a well modded B5 S4
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/J...for_716466.htm
the added parts are
JHM headers
JHM Crank pulley
JHM intake spacers
JHM light weight rear rotors.
I really think if I kept working on the launch I could get that 12 sec pass. If I even had a strong gust of wind from the back that would have done it. But with the tracks now closed for the winter and me happy with the results. I guess this is where Ill stay for now.

Nice vid - with some clearly solid work put into the car.
Were you brake-standing that? If so, to what rpm. Launches quick.

Thanks. I was super hesitant to share this, because I really wanted to show that the Automatic cars can do 12's and although we are just 002 shy it still isn't a 12 sec pass.
I think next year we (the automatics) will get there. The S/C automatics will shure bring this home for us. If the other strong running automatic car had a better uncapped cat back I think he would have done it. But we look good for next year. We will be there

Thanks HighPSI. Always nice to see good feedback from our big brothers. Not all B5's are happy for our success so, let me say before the list of B5 guys come stepping in and throwing a fit.
The B5 S4 is surely the bench mark for us. There are faster B5 cars then mine for sure and All B5's run much better with open dumps (unlike us) It was a fun fair race and this was one of 3 all the results were the same.

This is a difficult answer, as I think the launch still being in the 1.9 range kept me back from better times... Ill elaborate later tonight on the launch. I kinda want to put into a better example and explanation

Justin,
Get a vbox or a Gtech ProSS so you can test yourself out over the winter once in a while. Buy it used, and then sell it in the summer. It'll probably cost you about $10-20 for the winter all said and done...good 'rental' fee.
p.s. ib4tl...I can hear them coming

Nice vid!
Your next DIY needs to be "Launching an S4 w/Tip For Dummies"!
Are you power braking, bringing up the revs a little or just mashing the gas on green? Also what mode are you in and are you shifting or letting the tranny shift?

No need to pull off the radiator. You can get in there without doing it but it will be tight. Just slide the rad forward like in the DIY for the snub mount.
Congrats justin

nice video! was wondering if your running a stock battery (59lbs i think) that could be a nice mod that can save over 25lbs, every little bit helps when our cars weigh as much as they do!
and thanks for posting this, it give me hope for my tip to be fast one day

Well its good to see we can hang with a documented fast B5 S4. You really see the power of the free flowing exhaust up top and the down low grunt from the headers in both the 1/4 mile time and the jump on the B5 in the video.
An inspiration for us all thanks for your continued detication to the B6/7 S4. This is one more example that the proff is in the detials

First, congrats justincredible on your car's progress. Second, the B5 guys are always quick to point out that stg.3 cars run a wide range of times. I am sure the one running the s/c rs4 is quite a bit faster than the one justin ran. I really had no idea I would have so much to look forward to performance wise when I got this car. Thanks for the vid justincredible, very exciting time to own a B6.
